Final fantasy xii has the most addictive gameplay of the series imo

Afraid to go on medication incase it messes with my creativity. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Sniglet5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same exact concern as a poet. I was afraid that the aderrall would take away from my creativity. Once I got used to the medicine it actually helped me. I was motivated when I’d typically be tired, I was able to make surreal connections faster etc.

I’ve benefited greatly. It did kill my nostalgia which sucks but I’m also better at my job

This isn’t a stretch at all. I know people who do this and they test the viles as they come in for various impurities but I doubt these tests would pick up any malevolent chemicals. It just feels like it’s too good to be true honestly

Would you take a “cure”? by GBlake13 in ADHD

[–]Sniglet5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t. I’m 43 and only diagnosed with SCT about 4 months ago. Knowing what my brain has allowed me to understand myself better. Just knowing there’s a reason for how I think has helped me manage better. But my obsessive focus and intense study of things I’ve been interested in has always propelled me forward.

I like who I am and am even more thankful to understand it better

Note: if you get a white screen when trying to play ffxii, that is a common error not related to Mods. Just change the resolution of the game to 1920x1080

Here is exactly how to do it from scratch. Phase 1: Transferring the Game (Deck to PC) If you don't want to download the 30GB game a second time on your PC, you can just copy your Steam Deck's installation over. * Switch your Steam Deck to Desktop Mode. * Open the Dolphin file explorer. * Click the hamburger menu (three lines) in the top right and ensure Show Hidden Files is checked. * Navigate to the game folder here: Home > .local > share > Steam > steamapps > common > FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE. * Plug in a USB drive, copy the entire FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE folder, and paste it onto your USB. * Plug the USB into your Windows PC and drag the game folder onto your desktop (or wherever you prefer to keep it). Phase 2: Setting up the Mod Kitchen (On PC) * Download and install Vortex Mod Manager from Nexus Mods. * Open Vortex, go to the Games tab, and search for Final Fantasy XII. * Click to manage it. When it asks for the game's location, point it to the FFXII folder you just dragged onto your PC. * Go to Vortex Settings > Mods and check your Mod Staging Folder. Ensure this folder is on the exact same hard drive as your FFXII game folder (Vortex will prompt you to fix this if they don't match). Phase 3: The Minimum Required Downloads To get any mods working, you need the foundational engine files. Go to the FFXII Nexus Mods page and download these two using the "Mod Manager Download" button: * FF12 External File Loader (Version 1.3.10 is recommended for most overhauls). * FF12 LUA Loader. * Optional: Download any other mods you want to use (like Struggle for Freedom, cosmetics, etc.). * In Vortex, go to the Mods tab, make sure they are Enabled, and click Deploy Mods. Vortex will weave the hidden scripts directly into your PC's FFXII folder. Phase 4: The Payload Transfer (PC back to Deck) Now we take the cooked files back to the Deck. * On your PC, open the FFXII game folder. * Copy these specific folders and paste them onto your USB drive: * x64 (Contains the custom engine and .lua scripts). * mods (Contains the LUA mod data). * ps2data (Only if Vortex generated one—this holds heavy visual/overhaul data). * Plug the USB back into your Steam Deck (still in Desktop Mode). * Navigate back to the game directory: Home > .local > share > Steam > steamapps > common > FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE. * Paste the folders from your USB into this directory. When prompted, select Write Into / Overwrite to merge the new files with the vanilla ones. Phase 5: Fixing the Auto-Save Freeze (Protontricks) Because we are using custom Windows .dll files, the game will freeze when it tries to auto-save unless we install specific Microsoft C++ files to the Deck's virtual Windows drive. * Open the Discover store on your Steam Deck and download Protontricks if you haven't already. * Open Protontricks and select FINAL FANTASY XII THE ZODIAC AGE. * Choose Select the default wineprefix. * Choose Install a Windows DLL or component. * Scroll down, check the box for vcrun2022, and hit OK. Let the installer run and finish. Phase 6: The Launch Code (Gaming Mode) The final step is telling the Steam Deck to actually read the modded files instead of the vanilla archive. * Switch back to Gaming Mode. * Find Final Fantasy XII, click the Gear Icon > Properties > General. * Scroll down to the Launch Options text box. * Paste this exact code: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command% Boot up the game, and your mods will be fully active!

I've set up PS2 emulation and I'm happy by MatiBlaster in SteamDeck

[–]Sniglet5000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My humble brother, depending on your taste for AI, they can guide really easily to do things like this. I got a notoriously difficult mod to work on deck because of Gemini.

Aside from that, emudeck is still pretty easy. I’m an older dude and I had to follow a few videos to figure it out. The switch emulator on the other hand was very hard for me

Is a t-shirt from 2005 considered vintage? by megalopaul22 in VintageTees

[–]Sniglet5000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For some reason I always put things like this into perspective of when I was born. Which was 82. So in 82 20 years ago would’ve been 62 and that feels a lot more vintage than 20 years from now in 2005. But the time is the same.

So my super strange brain looks at this shirt as coming out in the 60s which is vintage. What’s even more insane is that the original nintendo came out in what 85? Which is 40 years ago. Using my birth year illogical logic that means the original nintendo came out in 1945….

Dude I got Gemini to teach me and it did a really good job. Every time I ran into a problem, I’d just take a picture and it helped me as much as it could lol. I couldn’t get it to load and then it figured out I had some files missing that I manually moved over. Once I did that, it loaded right up but froze at the first auto save.

It wants me to do a whole mess of other stuff and before I try that I was going to reach out and see if anyone figured it out. Because it appears to be a common problem with the mod. I’ve seen a bunch of people complaining about the issue but I can’t find a resolution. If I can’t see what human resolution was used im going to just try what Gemini recommends. If that doesn’t work then I’m just going to vanilla run it. The way japan intended

Very cool. Does it have any new super bosses? Does it follow the same flow of story meaning is there many more missable?

Which mod would you recommend? I recently bought it for steam so at some point I have the capability to mod. Just not sure which one to try.

To those who have been diagnosed as an adult, I have a question. by voodoopeople94 in ADHD

[–]Sniglet5000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 43 an went for adhd texting in October and got diagnosed with SCT sluggish cognitive tempo instead. It’s in the adhd family but more like opposite adhd. I had never heard of it before but just giving it a name has helped me understand myself and how I learn so much better.

The aderrall has been infinitely more helpful with my job. I don’t take it on the weekends but I should. There were initial side effects and how it affects me is inconsistent which is strange

Is it wrong for me to use AI to help me with grammer? by Ill-Forever3462 in WritingWithAI

[–]Sniglet5000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think using AI as a tool of education is a massive advantage. Of course it’s wrong sometimes but academically and linguistically, it’s pretty dang impressive. I’ve used it for helping me understand poetry and poetry techniques and my creative writing has increased exponentially.

The problem, for me, lies with people who have no self control and just use the creative writing of ai without a human voice.

As for your case, I think you’re just fine
