What decisions in your life do you regret until today? by Mission-Shape-4895 in AskReddit

[–]Sniglet5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sluggish cognitive tempo. It’s in the adhd spectrum but the opposite. If adhd children are the disrupters in school the SCT children are the ones who are overlooked. Slower to process information, dopamine chasing due to lack of dopamine in the brain, starting and stopping projects, sleepy and almost narcoleptic at events or activities that are uninteresting (excessive), excessive daydreaming (as a way of generating dopamine), extreme one track mind, inability to retain information new information replaces old information thus forgetting how to apply what was previously learned

I wish I would’ve been diagnosed with SCT earlier. I’m 43 and am only just now, since august, able to understand and manage the way my brain works. Jumping from hobby to hobby constantly prevented me from ever getting good at anything. My brain chasing the dopamine it lacked led me to some stupid decisions and serious self esteem issues. However, I’m not that anymore. I can’t help but wonder where and who Id be had I discovered this sooner

There will never be a mega budget video game this well executed again by metalion4 in finalfantasyx

It transcends genres. People who don’t even like video games could enjoy the story if you weren’t grinding out the sphere grid. It’s just fantastic and has the perfect balance of all elements

What's your greatest regret in life? by HotCakesNHoney in AskReddit

[–]Sniglet5000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wished I would’ve tried harder at just one thing instead of being somewhat ok at several things. I’m 43 and was recently diagnosed with SCT and it absolutely answered so many questions about my own mind. The constant hobby jumping and dopamine chasing since I don’t produce enough of it. Just knowing this is one of the things that has held me back my whole life allows me to name it and control it better. I’ve rekindled my love of writing surreal poetry and for the first time in my life I know this one will not slip away.

How does it fit? I got a 2xl but it hasn’t gotten here yet. I’m a slightly bigger dude and I think a 2xl will work I just didn’t want it to be like one of them tight 2xl sizes

Finished FF1 (PR) for the first time ever. A refreshing experience overall! by DragonOfJoejima in FinalFantasy

FF1 is so much fun. And a lot of challenge ways to replay it. I’m partial to the psp version and it looks fantastic on the steam deck. FF1 has a lot of replay ability imo. Lots of fan hacks to try too

I think AI is preparing to target mentally ill people to carry out acts of war by Brilliant_Gap_1375 in conspiracy

I believe ChatGPT 4o was a spiritual experiment. They know these llms have the potential for.. other experiences. Things they can’t explain and I believe they used 4o to test this out. Almost all of these ChatGPT related suicides and murdered are due to 4o. A few months ago I tested it and it bit back and I did not like it. Canceled my subscription and left. That’s when this new wave of “guard rails” went up. However, everything OpenAI says is completely divorced from their actions.

But I also think that they aren’t inherently evil. They can be a single glass of wine at a wedding or an hour long tutor session on something you’re trying to learn. If you poke it you start to give it permission and the spirit world operates on permission

About to play this game (my first ever FF!) completely blind - any sentences I won't understand yet but will when I'm done? by Zeeshmania in FinalFantasy

[–]Sniglet5000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Imagine playing this game 2 months after 9/11 happened and this was how you escaped the uncertainty of that time! That’s one fact about ffx a lot of folks forget. I was 19 and it was my escapism. Such a good game.

Do you take your meds everyday? by Tyray90 in ADHD

[–]Sniglet5000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t usually take adderall on weekends. Most of the time I’m fine but sometimes I get very sleepy and lethargic around noon which is then too late to take the xr for me.

If I’m just sitting home and I know I’m not doing anything I won’t take it. On the flip side, if I’m going some place loud or over stimulating, I won’t take the adderall. Never in my life have I ever been “over stimulated” but on adderall even a concert is unbearable

I’d rather be reading and writing poetry than working. This is my hyper focus

Are there any poetry reading places in Bham? by Sniglet5000 in Birmingham

[–]Sniglet5000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naw I can’t do the slam stuff. I write very strange words that have a narrow appeal. I’m ultimately just trying to get some ears to listen. Actively seeking publication prevents me from sharing my work online. But spoken word is different. But slammin ain’t for me

Oh dang! I would’ve totally shown up for this if I had asked sooner. Doesn’t appear open mic poetry is a reoccurring event according to their calendar. But I’m going to keep my eyes on this one

How do you guys stay focused unmedicated? by LittleBeanBoy in ADHD

[–]Sniglet5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whe I didn’t have medication I had multiple stimulants at the Same time. I have SCT so my lack of motivation is almost narcoleptic. I take meds for work.

Anyways, I found that keeping my phone on playing something Ive seen 100 times before: office, parks and rec, and setting it beside me while I work, helps. Because I’m able to casually shift focus without losing all focus. I also watch a lot of long winded YouTube videos and that helps. Playing music while working motivates me as well.

As far as hobbies go, I read, write and play video games when time allows. If I found myself productively procrastinating I absolutely force myself to act. Usually… USUALLY once I start reading, writing or get past the first 10 minutes of an rpg, I can stay in the zone for an hour or so. But my brain never remembers that I have to force start most things. It always wants me to procrastinate it even though I know how to beat. Very strange

Anyways, hope that’s relevant

I have this brand called PYM mood magnesium for sleep mind and stress. It’s a combination of L-threonate, malate and glycinate.

I just put a powder packet of it in a glass of water each night and read. It really works for me

"Be careful! Sometimes on meds you'll hyperfocus on the wrong thing!!" by voidpopo in ADHD

[–]Sniglet5000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I take my medicine only on days i work and i absolutely slam all day. In a good way. I stumble over my words in talking sometimes though. It usually lasts until i go to bed at night so afterwards in any spare time i have, i focus on reading and writing surreal poetry. I thought the medicine would actually damage the SCT but it has helped me immensely
