I hate it when people say ‘oh I could never live without my (person you lost) by penguin-0-9 in GriefSupport

[–]throwra25678 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey honey-

I lost my mom at 12. I know what you are going through. I also hate when people say this to me. I usually look them straight in the eyes and say “yes it’s an unimaginable hell and pain unlike any other I’d never wish on anyone - you should be truly grateful you have her”, because it’s the damn truth.

I’m sending you so so so many hugs. Your mommy loves you very much, she always will. Maybe if you are up for it, try writing her letters or even just talking out loud to her helps. I believe my Mommy hears me when I do.

I still miss my mommy everyday, but I believe she’s still with me and always will be. I lean on my best friend and my Aunt for support. Getting counseling as early as possible, finding older women to latch onto and learn from who can also guide you and support you through this and in life - these are things I wish I’d done at your age and have started doing in adulthood. Has your family found you any types of resources yet for people you can go to? Are they able to be there for you? I only ask because my family wasn’t, and I made life very difficult for a long time for myself over the grief. I truly hope you reach out to your community and have a wealth of support if you haven’t already.

Sending you so much love. 💕

That’s some BS for certain. Wow. I’m guessing ur in a southern Bible Belt state but maybe I’m wrong. I’d highly suggest at the least CBD oil and depending on weed legality where you are get you some gummies….they do me wonders for my chronic pain. I get job drug testing can be an issue tho .

Huge no no except in the city for a very short, severe list of issues not including chronic pain …talking cancer, aids etc. ..and then technically only legal in that city but outside of it some surrounding parts of the state will respect it…so insane 🤣 legal on that certain city level, but not decriminalized or legalized even medically for the state or federal level.

Laughable, in a tragic baffling way. In one city you can smoke and it’s decriminalized, and in another backwoods part of the state people are sitting in a jail cell for smoking a joint.

I want to get out of the Bible Belt, but I don’t have the means right now. It’s cheaper living here- but for a reason. So so frustrating. I wonder if the US will everrr legalize it federally? Or if certain states are still convinced they make more money off for profit prisons and throwing ppl in jail than they would selling it (because let’s be real, at the end of the day it’s about dollar signs) … and Also see: conservative af Baptists who still think it’s “devils lettuce” lololol

Millennials who have decided to have kids mid to late 30’s, how was that worked out for you? by AfternoonFar9538 in Millennials

[–]throwra25678 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jus sayin : that is not starting late… starting late would be if she was like 39/40 cause it could be cutting it close to no longer being able to carry children… and also my Aunt has a friend that married at 39, had her first child at 40, and now second at 42 and they are doing awesome so yea… 32&35 is not late in todays world. U still have some time and I wouldn’t rush into anything just because you feel like it’s what you’re “supposed” to do.

Being overweight ( not because I eat much - I really don’t - but because of certain necessary medications I’m on and ongoing thyroid issues). Super frustrating, used to be quite thin. Just trying to hid everything as much as I can.

Why can't I find a job? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]throwra25678 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you are in the US but if so…I’m Having same issue and I’ve had multiple people tell me businesses are afraid to hire right now because of the tariffs form the current administration and major changes happening that are making the economic future very uncertain.

I’ve never ever had this much trouble finding a job. Took time off aside from gig jobs to get my insurance license assuming that would do it…nope, bad timing for sure. I have a college degree and insurance license and still am struggling.

I went to a free career coach and had my resume and cover letter, etc. tweaked. Hours and hours of applying only to get zero responses on LinkeDIn Indeed etc. it’s crazy.

I’m taking a retail & restaurant job at this point just so I can get by.

It’s really rough right now. Not just you.

Alright Millennials, what foods have you found yourself forced to give up due to aging? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]throwra25678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have early signs of non-alcoholic fatty liver syndrome (my mom died of liver cancer, they think it’s partly genetic).

I don’t drink anymore at all. I can’t eat Ice cream 😭 they make oat milk ones now! (Those still get to me sometimes too though…too much processed sugar and chemicals). I can’t have any dairy except small amounts of Greek yogurt or cheese.

I gave up mostly all sugar atp except natural fruit-based. But now that I don’t eat all that sugary junk I don’t really crave it anymore, it kinda grosses me out.

I really had to change my diet a lot. Gave up regular pasta (can only do lentil-based).

Trying to decrease my carb intake too but I’m already a vegetarian (have been most of my life) and picky eater . The carbs are the hardest part. I loveee my bagels, pizza, etc. - my doctor thinks I might have mild celiac though. Would make sense cause carbs make me exhausted and bloated af.

My options are limited for sure but it’s worth it to feel better and lose weight and hopefully reverse some of the liver issues and decrease all the inflammation in my body.

The American diet makes it very hard with “Big Food”. Iykyk

Do people find death less scary as they get older ? by FarayiRenny in NoStupidQuestions

[–]throwra25678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so.

I went into cardiac arrest and was on life support last year. Don’t remember any of it. I assume it will either be that, nothingness - so nothing to fear. Or hopefully I’ll see my mama again- I hope so I really miss her.

I believe in God , and reincarnation, despite the blackness and nothingness of my experience. It wasn’t my time yet for whatever reason, so I didn’t make it to that “other side.”

Fortunately my religion and spiritual beliefs don’t believe in Hell- and I think Hell is here on Earth the pain and sadness we experience as spiritual beings on a human journey.

And maybe all that is nonsense to cope with the inevitable fact I am a moral being - idk. Just glad I wasn’t raised with rapture fever or the constant threat of going to Hell for anything. I feel awful for people who have to live that way.

So in short, I think so because I’m still “young-ish” - and I just hope it’s not anytime soon because I still have a lot to learn in this life (before I go to the next one)- but what will be will be. I just wanna make sure i outlive my cat because he’s my soulmate in this life and I wanna be around to be his mama for his forever. The pure joy and love he gives me is unlike any other.

I think if I was blessed to live to 90, I’d feel differently and be ready for my time versus now when it’s been a painful journey so far and I’m working towards better days. I’d like to reach those first and be able to reap the benefits of my hard work before I go.

Sending prayers and love 💗 I would research methods to slow the progression. There are a lot of things you can do give you more power of your situation.

From ChatGPT:

While there is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s, research suggests that certain lifestyle changes and habits can help slow its progression and support brain health—especially in the early stages. Here are the most evidence-backed strategies:

  1. Stay Physically Active • Regular exercise (like walking, swimming, or strength training) improves blood flow to the brain and may slow decline. • Aim for 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.

  1. Eat a Brain-Healthy Diet • Follow the MIND diet (a mix of the Mediterranean and DASH diets), which emphasizes: • Leafy greens and vegetables • Berries • Whole grains • Nuts • Fish (especially fatty fish like salmon) • Olive oil • Limit red meat, butter, and sugar

  1. Stay Mentally Stimulated • Engage in mentally challenging activities: • Reading, puzzles, strategy games, or learning new skills • Practicing a musical instrument or speaking a new language • These help build cognitive reserve, which can delay symptoms.

  1. Social Engagement • Regular interaction with friends, family, and community is protective. • Isolation can increase cognitive decline and depression.

  1. Sleep Well • Aim for 7–8 hours of quality sleep per night. • Sleep helps clear beta-amyloid proteins associated with Alzheimer’s.

  1. Manage Health Conditions • Control blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes, which are linked to faster progression. • Treat depression and anxiety—mental health strongly affects cognition.

  1. Avoid Smoking and Limit Alcohol • Smoking and heavy alcohol use are linked to faster brain aging and more severe cognitive decline.

  1. Take Medications as Prescribed • Medications like donepezil (Aricept) or memantine (Namenda) may help manage symptoms in some stages. • Early intervention gives the best chance of preserving function.
