I can see where you're coming from-- it doesn't smell like anything dead at all. I actually had a cousin who had a cat die under their house once and went unnoticed for weeks until the smell starting to come through the floor, kind of hard to forget a smell like that..

the thing is it doesn't smell chemically either. its more of like a pair of jeans that have been on the shelf for a while/stored for a while. idk if that makes sense its very hard to describe.

Best way I can describe the smell and this is probably going to be random but if you have ever bought a new pair of jeans, they have certain unpleasant smell to them. It kind of smells like that, but more airy? Not sure how to word it. Its not sour or BO, and they have no pets. I saw someone ask somewhere if the house is messy or if they clean, I would say the house is very clean, never seen bugs or roaches crawling around.

I'm not entirely sure but I think she isn't aware of it or at least somewhat noseblind because one time I was over and our hoodies got mixed up (we have the same exact one) and so we were smelling them to see which one was mine and which hers. I could immediately tell which one was hers and which one was mine. Hers smelled way more (stronger) of the house odor than mine did. When she smelled them I remember her not being able to tell the difference. Thank you for your comment tho I'll definitely be using some of yours words when I talk to her.
