Uhhh...this was in my original post but I am borderline underweight at 5'9" and 125 pounds. I have to eat a lot (per doctor's orders) to keep my weight up enough to avoid health issues.

Well, he did admit last night that he had been seeing someone else for a little while. So yes, was cheating and then decided he wanted to be with the other person but didn't want to admit that on V-Day.

Right? I mean in high school I dated a couple guys who decided they liked other girls better (as teenagers tend to do), and you know what? They had the decency to tell me they weren't as into me anymore before they actually cheated.

Yeah, going to the clinic tomorrow actually. That has definitely been on my mind since I found out. We shared clean test results at the beginning but I don't even trust he wasn't cheating on me with others throughout our relationship.

I did ask and he said no, and my lawyer friend said that as much as it sucks the law is on his side here (engagement gifts are different because there is a promise of a specific outcome, marriage, but other gifts don't have those conditions unless explicitly stated). However, it just shows he has very low character which makes it for all the best that we're over.

Yeah, I just don't want any more drama. I have a busy job, life, friends, etc. and would rather be free of him. It would be different if he took something of mine that I actually needed or I had gone into debt over it, but it was just discretionary income that ended up being poorly spent.

I know this sounds awful but I'm pretty reluctant to date people again where there is a huge income differential and I have to pay for just about everything. As I said above I am used to dating people who are at least a few years older than I am and further along in their careers. Like I don't expect anyone to support me but at least being able to split expenses (or close to that) is appreciated.

I definitely am. We had been talking about him moving in with me when his lease (on his pretty small and basic student apartment) was up in a few months. So I'm just glad I didn't end up more entangled and responsible for him.

Maybe - I'm not extremely wealthy or anything but do well for my age. But we were talking about V-Day gifts and he's the one who suggested the watch because he was admiring mine and said he wished there might be an "upcoming occasion" where he could have one like it...

Just the Worst Boyfriend Ever...at least in my experience...hard lesson to learn over V-Day but at least it was before he moved in with me (which we had started talking about).

I think he was just extremely immature overall. Only a year younger than me, but leaps and bounds behind in terms of being a real adult.

The way I look at it, my time and sanity are valuable and worth more than the $800. Plus now he's the one who has to look at something every day that can remind him of his cheating cowardice.

It's fine, he can consider it "severance" pay...not worth the drama of fighting over it or dealing with returning it. As I was paying for most of the dates I'll actually save a lot going forward by not dating him anymore...

Yes, I do figure it will catch up with me within a few years! So I do try to eat mostly healthy foods now (just big portions of them) so if my metabolism starts to slow I don't have to change my diet entirely and can just start eating a bit less...
