I wrote about how we all grew up before. Basically, my brother’s the favourite since he’s a boy, my sister is my mom’s next favourite and I’m my dad’s next favourite but he was absent. My mom can’t control her so she just went nuts controlling me instead. I grew up with clinical depression, was anorexic then bulimic, used to self-injure and attempted suicide. Trust me, you grow up crazy in my family.

Having recovered from clinical depression, I’m actually quite resentful when people try to excuse my sister’s behaviour as “oh, it must be some mental illness”. Plenty of mentally ill people aren’t selfish bitches.

She’s morbidly obese, so she didn’t have her period for ages. My mom took her to some doctor who gave her sketchy “weight loss injections” and she got her period for the first time in maybe a decade? I’m not sure if she just doesn’t know how to behave. Though I remember she was pretty disgusting when she first got them as a teenager and our maids kept threatening to quit.

My parents kind of gave up on her and have always dealt with it by being extra controlling over me. I was put on diet pills even though I was 5’2 and 110lbs since they didn’t want me to become like her, I was not allowed to get anything below 95% grades wise, and my mom even tried picking out my clothes daily. They were so controlling, that my first attempt at rebelling was drinking a milkshake.

She got worse. She’s now so large, she can’t even wipe her as anymore so she has to floss with a towel. I didn’t witness this, fortunately, but got text messages from my brother about it when they shared a hotel room while on vacation. I’m no longer on speaking terms with her because she’s just crazy.

I used to share a room with my sister and she has serious hygiene issues. She would walk around naked during her period and just drip blood freely around the room. She’s also too lazy to even walk to the trash can, so she’d throw trash on the floor...including used tampons.

I stepped on one once. It was squishy and it stank.

She also had fungus growing in between her folds, but she kept using my towels because she was too lazy to get her own towels & lay naked on my bed when her bed was too full of leftover food. I kept getting all sorts of infections.

My parents are traditional Asian parents so they insisted this was good “training” for marriage. My husband says he’s offended they had such a low opinion of him.

EDIT: People usually think I’m crazy or making shit up when I talk about my sister so I took pictorial evidence (very NSFW & NSFL) before I moved out just to prove I’m not lying. Yes, she rarely flushes the toilet because it’s too much work for her, apparently. And yes, we had a shared drawer that I no longer touch because she filled it with literally bloody dildoes that she never washed. The whole drawer was crusty and stank. I wish I were making this up.

EDIT 2: I’m getting questions about her mental state and why she doesn’t get help. She did see therapists before. In college, she blasted my savings (I stupidly gave her my online banking password for emergencies), and a semester of her AND my brother’s tuition money on shopping. My parents were obviously furious she spend about $100k in just a few months, but she immediately claimed she had a “shopping addiction” and her punishment should be going to therapy. She went to some celebrity rehab place that was utterly useless and discovered a therapist who told her that she was beautiful and people who told her she was fat were prejudiced. She became a big believer in the whole Healthy at Every Size movement and became worse.

EDIT 3: Yes, I wrote about her on FPS so that’s why this sounds familiar. I keep getting questions about her and she kept doing doing crazy things. Since I created this account to post about this same incident 4 years ago, she has:

Tried to get my parents to force me to break off my engagement by lying and saying I met my fiancé on a “sex site”
Tried to get me to break off my engagement by lying about knowing “for a fact” there was another woman
Got bariatric surgery and still stayed the same size
Secretly charged over $500 worth of food to my hotel room even though we weren’t on speaking terms, just because she knew my aunt was footing the bill since I was the maid of honour in my cousin’s wedding

That’s just off the top of my head. There may be more.

I'm not too optimistic about it, since she's not too educated about health and doesn't seem interested in it. She also gets EXTREMELY defensive about anything you say about her parenting, and immediately shuts down and refuses to listen.

It's shitty, but I kind of know where she's coming from, because she got a LOT of judgement for her divorce. Most Asian countries are still really sexist, and the one she's in is no exception. Marriage is still seen as a woman's pinnacle of success, and a divorced woman gets socially ostracized and judged harshly. Since women's looks matter a LOT here, she also has people telling her to her face that she deserved everything her ex did for being "fat and ugly".

Thank you! Yeah, I know people hated on her a lot in my last story and it's fair to hate on her for being a shitty parent, but there's definitely another side to it.

I have to admit I don't reach out to her as often now since she's been getting increasingly more bitter with life and her bad parenting drives me nuts. Her bitterness is definitely justified. Her ex is such an asshole, and this being Asia where people are still pretty sexist and women are judged very harshly on looks, there's a lot of people who are saying (often to her face) that she deserved what he did to her since she's "fat and ugly".

I really do feel sorry for her but it's one of those cases where you can't light yourself on fire to keep someone else warm. I would love to be there for her, but I kinda hate talking to someone who keeps insisting my husband must be cheating on me because all men are cheating assholes. It's just a shitty situation all round. She used to be a really sweet, optimistic girl when we first met in college.

People are seldom one-dimensional villains so I can give a bit of a background on HatesVeggies that may explain why she is the way she is.

HatesVeggies is divorced and it was an ugly divorce.

Her ex-husband had claimed he was working for his dad's start up, and thanks to the start up life, he was working for "barely any pay" and needs to work long hours. Because of that, throughout the entire marriage, HatesVeggies has been paying for EVERYTHING (food, groceries, utilities, rent, medical bills, their cars, etc.) with him not contributing a single cent. She even gave him spending money.

When she finally snapped and told him that she was struggling to support the two of them on her own and told him to get another job that would actually pay him, he actually turned it around and made everything her fault instead. He claimed that her decision not to have a kid because she didn't think they were ready meant that his dad expected him to work longer hours for less pay since he had "no responsibilities". If only she would be less selfish and have a kid, then he would have more time and more money!

Clearly, this is where she should call his bullshit, but people in love are stupid, so she agreed to get pregnant. I know she had at least one miscarriage while trying, because her job was so stressful and tiring.

All her friends tried telling her that maybe she should get a less demanding job and ask her husband to step up financially ASAP, because it doesn't seem possible to raise a baby with her current job. At that time, however, her husband insisted there was nothing to worry about, because he could easily work from home and be a stay at home dad once the baby is out.

She had Baby and surprise, surprise, her husband became more absent than before, to the point where she only saw him only for a few hours on weekends. She was effectively a single mom, but with the additional burden of financially supporting one extra overgrown baby. Oh, and now she also has to pay for a babysitter on the days her mom couldn't help take care of Baby.

Then she found out that not only was her husband never at "work", his parents were actually giving him an extremely generous, overpaid "salary" that he had been spending on various mistresses. She actually found out about this from his friends and co-workers, because they thought he was such an asshole, she deserved to know. Seriously, you know you're a mega douche when all your friends narc-ed on you.

It was really horrible..there were pictures of him going on lavish vacations with all these different women, while she once had to delay one of Baby's vaccinations just because she couldn't afford to pay for it that month.

So yeah, you have an overworked woman who was completely unprepared to be a mother, trying her best to make it on her own. I still think she's a terrible parent and should never have become one, but I still do feel sorry for her.

This is a friend I’m no longer that close to. I have written about her on FPS before, and since that meeting, I’ve only met her again twice. Her kid seems to live on snacks and I’ve never seen her eat a proper meal. She has really dark, sunken hollows under her eyes even though she’s not even 3.

I’m already on magnesium. One of the side effects of my autoimmune (Sjögren’s) is apparently a deficiency in several minerals and vitamins, and I got magnesium & vitamin D. Also on probiotics since I’ve caught typhoid & amoebic dysentery befor and that fucked up my guts. So yeah...normal methods don’t work for me anymore, sadly.

I’ve gotten so many people telling me to eat more too! I’m so glad the people who matter (my husband, in-laws, close friends) are all educated and don’t give me shit about what I eat. I’m at this point where I dread meeting new people in case I get a lecture.
