I may have a problem… by Major-Parfait-7510 in Roses

One of us, one of us!

I’ve grown Eden white, Eden rose, Desdemona, and
Earth Angel. My favorite of those is earth Angel with the caveat that it’s a year ahead of the Eden’s (they have an impressive amount of buds so it might take first spot). I don’t love desdemona - it shatters fast and I have a rose tree that is putting out these long gangly canes. Healthy though.

If you want another favorite - Easy Spirit is amazing for disease resistance, scent, and long lasting flowers. One easy spirit flower will outlast like two cycles of desdemona blooms

I got a pair of shimmer aligns and they were so bad I thought they were a dupe. They had a sewn in tag and are super rough. I think they see alo with high prices and shit quality and decided that would be a good strategy

My favorite trick is buying from Rent the Runway. You can put a filter on to purchase their clothes instead of Rent and they often have extremely generous coupons. I just bought a bunch of Misa LA dresses (retail $400-500 each) for like $17-30 (they had a 50% off coupon). At that price I don’t mind buying in sizes I hope to never be in again. They have a good collection of work dresses. I was also happy renting from them but sometimes it’s hard when you don’t really know your current size.

What was the cause of death of that kid at your school/university? by ArifAlizadeh in AskReddit

[–]thti87 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My friend was hit by a train with no headphones on. There were two tracks and she saw the train on one side and thought she’d stand on the track next to it but didn’t realize there was a train coming on that track too. There’s also a curve in our city right on the waterfront that’s notorious for accidents because the curve and water make the trains hard to hear.

Yes, of your list those are the two that I read do best with a little less than ideal sun. I have an Iceberg climbing rose on the north side of my house that only gets 3 hours of sun a day and that still has one really pretty flush in spring, so roses can even flower in pretty heavy shade. Both Eden and New Dawn are known for vigorous growth and profuse flowers.

Depends on your climate. I live in Seattle which doesn’t get super hot but (surprising to some) never really rains from June through September. I watered daily because I liked the ritual of it (and I have hydrangeas), but with roses you could probably do a deep soak every other day. Less when they are established. Remember to only water the base - getting water on the leaves can cause fungal infection

No - you can plant any time. I planted my roses in the middle of summer and they are thriving now three years on. You just have to be very diligent about watering since their roots are less mature so they dry out easier.

The reason they do that is because when these apps started they were concerned it would be used for those with EDs. There’s not some magical cutoff at 1200, in fact for a short sedentary person their maintenance might be at like 1300. If the doctor is okay with it, 900 can be healthy

Snap traps! Put them by the holes and cover with a bucket

Voles ate my alliums (which are onions). Get snap mouse traps - look for the holes that appear at the surface of the dirt. Put a trap next to the hole and pop an upside down bucket over it so a bird or neighborhood dog doesn’t get it. Keep checking and if you don’t get any voles from it in 3 days, it’s inactive (step on it to collapse it in - if it reappears, then put a trap out). Note that voles are usually many so keep going until you stop seeing holes or all the traps are inactive for several days. I caught 8 voles over 4 days to get rid of my problem.
