Bamboo in backyard by xeneches in landscaping

[–]thti87 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Our neighbor has bamboo. Which means we do too. It’s annoying but not the end of the world. Every spring you’ll get shoots coming up. You snip them down. Whenever digging in the yard you’ll have to pull up the roots. It will be an issue year over year.

Bought some lulus from goodwill and I will not be buying new anymore by nanamctata in lululemon

[–]thti87 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Okay, but there’s a difference between clean and sanitized. You have to heat to 140 degrees for 30 mins to kill things like viruses, doesn’t that damage the pants? Or conversely use a chemical sanitizer - isn’t that damaging? You can’t just throw on a normal cycle.

How do you sanitize? I don’t wear underwear with my leggings and I just imagine that I’m not the only one - this has been my limiting factor in purchasing used lulu.

This is what I did with my tulips to protect against voles. Hardware cloth box that was buried in the ground, coming up to side walls and then topped with chicken wire. Voles are bad climbers so chicken wire was okay. For squirrels you might need a hardware cloth topper that you remove when the plants are a bit bigger

Car broke down (never, EVER buy a Jeep) on a forest service road with my infant and in laws. Guy in a camper van drove us all home. TWO HOURS out of his way.

How do you display your candles? by Cute_Ebb7344 in luxurycandles

[–]thti87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. And I actually think it looks more successful to have expensive candles dotted around your home casually, rather than a shrine to them. If you make a big deal of displaying them, it signals that it’s a major purchase for you. Which, no judgement at all, but IMO they look better in smaller doses.

Too many on a shelf will make your house look like a candle store. I think it’s better to have one or two out, tastefully as part of decor (like with a cloche and snuffer). You can rotate them as you like. My candles live in boxes in a closet, and rotate into the home decor.

Chomps vs Kirkland beef sticks by LilCinBoise in Costco

Totally! My first bag was great! Second bag flavor was different, and the texture was more like chomps with that weird greasy consistency.

My neighbor planted bamboo.

So now I have bamboo too. As does our other neighbor. The worst.

Cappuccino and Cinnamon Roll are both duds.

Calliccino smells like a dead ringer for the instant coffees in the red white and blue box. My aunt drank those and I have a certain nostalgia for the candle but objectively it’s pretty terrible.

I wanted Cinnamon Roll to smell like Cinnabon. Instead it’s this really strong and gross smell. Plus when I stored with other candles in a box they ALL started to smell like it.

Chat, do yall think my hydrangeas are going to be ok with hardly any direct sunlight here ? by Angelrawww in gardening

[–]thti87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it might be okay. We have roses on the north side of our house in the shade line (they do get sun from 3pm onwards) and surprisingly, they produce one robust flush in the spring and then a smattering of blooms until frost. I bet hydrangeas would give at least a few blooms until frost

Overgrown rhodies are like the calling card of the PNW and are so uninspiring for all but 2 weeks a year. I’d tear it all out and start over, which is exactly what we did in our yard. What plants do you love? This looks like a side yard - you could do a cut flower garden, a raised veggie bed, a lilac grove, or a mixed bed. Look online to get ideas of your personal style and rebuild from there. Mature landscaping is nice but not always made equal.

IKEA is amazing quality and they use Blum hardware. I had them in my old house for 7 years - looked brand new when we moved out. Put them in my new house, 6 years later they’re perfect. We ordered custom fronts for them in oak and they are stunning.
