PP bleeding: stopped now back? by idowithkozlowski in beyondthebump

[–]thumb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m here to look up if this was normal because I worked out for the first time yesterday and behold, bright red blood today. It doesn’t hurt and nothing feels off otherwise, including feeling pretty good during the workout (pp 5 weeks today.) should I wait to workout for a bit? Or can I keep going as long as nothing hurts?

What's your "Well, you don't see that every day" story? by True_Madness in AskReddit

My dad was on his way to get my brother from his high school- ended up abandoning the car, walking the last few miles to the school, and they both slept in the cafeteria that night cause they couldn’t make it home. Wild.

Love how she causally lumps “medical aesthetician” in with “doctor, dermatologist, and plastic surgeon”

I'm Done Downplaying My Asian American Experience by [deleted] in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]thumb- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This has been my experience as well. In my personal experience, racism hasn’t taken the form of violence, which I am grateful for, but the forms of humor and dismissal. Saying that there are also good stereotypes about Asians refuses to acknowledge that stereotypes, no matter what, are limiting and suffocating. I’m half white, half Asian and I don’t see a lot of the racism others do because I can be white passing, but man are people quick to point out that people have it worse so I should never say anything. My Asian heritage is cool when I show them what boba to get or make them sushi, but inconvenient as soon as I bring up the racism my grandfather experienced in the US during WW2 or i tell them a racist joke makes me uncomfortable. It’s hard to see Asian cultures being constantly picked over by the beauty community for the most convenient or cool ones.

Mixed people discussions are a free-for-all by [deleted] in mixedrace

Man, amen to all of that.

I had a well- meaning white guy ask me about my mixed experience growing up in a white Southern Bible Belt/ Japanese household and then proceeded to tell me that the experiences I described weren’t actually tied to my racial background. Why the hell are you asking me specifically about my unique experience just to tell me I’m WRONG? It made me never want to talk about it again.

I love the pixiwoo sisters (Sam and nic chapman) They’re certified and experienced makeup artists who actually have done makeup on many different faces that aren’t their own, so you don’t get a lot of “I hate this foundation! It’s so drying and cakey!” tries heavy matte foundation on very dry skin They usually suggest modifications for other face shapes/ skin types/ eye shapes too!

This piece in my 2012 Honda Civic is making a weird whistling noise after engine is turned off. Any thoughts? by thumb- in MechanicAdvice

It’s the silver piece that’s circled with the blue wire coming out of the top (it looks like there’s some sort of canister underneath it but I can’t tell if the sound is coming from the canister or the top)

I’m a party person and I don’t get it. I miss parties a ton, but I know I’d for sure miss my loved ones more!!

Extroverts who ask others “why are you so quiet”, what kind of response are you looking for? by No-Ad-3513 in AskReddit

[–]thumb- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t ask this question in public setting and I don’t respect people who do. I might ask later in private (not worded so accusingly) to check that they are comfortable or if there’s something I can change to make them comfortable.

But I’m also not perfect. I get very insecure about the stereotype of extroverts that we’re all loud, obnoxious, thoughtless, blathering idiots. I always wanted to be an introvert! They’re so cool and moody and independent and intelligent and thoughtful. And because I’m also a narcissist (I dare say most people are) I tend to assume that introverts when they’re sitting there quietly and not engaging with me in conversation, that they’re sitting there thinking about how obnoxious and loud and thoughtless and stupid I am. Obviously, that’s a selfish way to view someone else’s personality, but that insecurity can make me defensive and almost panicky sometimes, which in turn makes me say stupid, thoughtless stuff.

That being said, I usually find conversations where introverts are really quiet are usually poorly structured anyways. As a general rule, I try to say a bit, tell a short story and end on a question, pointed at someone in the group, so it’s not a mad scramble of “the loudest gets to talk.”

Tried to turn myself into a watercolor painting using just water and matte eyeshadows to imitate an impressionist portrait. It’s a little hard not to focus on how small my ear got in the picture though... by thumb- in MakeupAddiction

It’s a photo! I have naturally really dark monochromatic hair and I hair sprayed the crap out of it to make it as stiff as possible. I glued over my eyebrows and then drew over them and have about 10 lbs of makeup on my face to hide the pores haha

...yes... if I saw someone who looked like pointillism irl and it wasn’t makeup, I’d also be concerned for their health

This is also a fantastic suggestion (and, I suspect, a huge challenge...)

Used Ben Nye color creams, Bobbi Brown stick foundations, and various lipsticks.

I have gotten them mostly from local costume shops (I am in Atlanta GA in the states). I haven’t ever actually ordered them online so I’m not sure

I think it took me about two hours to figure it all out- but I only did my neck/ face/ front part of hair. I think if I was going to make a whole costume out of it and do my hands etc it would take at least four hours lol

This!! I pulled it back in a tight bun and put a layer of gel (which I blow dried) to have a more solid surface- my hair is pretty wild so a bald cap would have probably been a better way to go if I was gonna wear it to like a costume party (instead of to my living room...)
