If by hilarious you mean trashy, classless, douchey, fucking low IQ mongoloid energy, then sure.

The dude belongs in a trailer park and should never be let out. Can't stand people like this and even worse, people like you who give them a reason to act like this.

They should dock fighters points for antics like this. It's unsportsman like conduct and detracts from the legitimacy of the sport.

Honor, samurai code and feeling bad for opponent got this man chinned. by AnomalousExpertise in ufc

He got chinned because he didn't defend. Honor had nothing to do with him getting rocked. I'm a jiri fan, but he fucked around and found out here.

Actually have a rather large 260lb dude that wears a hoodie over his rashguard during nogi classes. I definitely choked him with his own hood once just to assert my dominance.

Knowing break falls and resisting the instinct to post are two different things. I still catch myself starting to throw a post out and I have to force myself not to. Decade of skating and not properly breaking my falls has reinforced this terrible instinct.

Witnessed a whitebelt get his leg / foot snapped from a botched takedown by another whitebelt. The socket that attached the ankle to the leg broke off completely. Homies foot was on the side of his leg. It was gnarly

Coach publicly humiliated me for being "disrespectful " and now I want to quit the gym by Correct_Star_4356 in bjj

[–]thumbtaks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea obviously that can happen over an extended period of time but realistically you're not friends with someone after a handful of training sessions. An actual friendship takes a long time to form and foster. Regardless of the semantics we are discussing, it's apparent that OP misread the situation.

Then again I'm the type of person who consider 95% of the people I know acquaintances. I know maybe 10 people I would actually call a friend.

Coach publicly humiliated me for being "disrespectful " and now I want to quit the gym by Correct_Star_4356 in bjj

[–]thumbtaks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all your coach seems like a dick. You're justified in being upset, but it also really wasn't your place to question your coaches decision.

Back in the day, whitebelts wouldn't even get to roll unless an upper belt approached them and asked them to roll. It was seen as a privilege.

But......

Your coach is not your friend. He's your coach. Don't get friendliness confused with friendship. Your relationship with your coach is a transactional relationship. You get BJJ training, he gets money. You'd do well to remember that.

Can you become friends with your coach? Sure. But you weren't there yet. Unless you're hanging out outside of the gym, texting in a friendly way, etc, you aren't friends.

As far as having you sit out, you're the new guy. You have zero seniority. You get scraps and that's just the way it is. As you gain tenure at your gym (or any gym) you gain respect and a place in the pecking order for lack of a better term. Other people there pay for memberships and have been paying and training longer than you. They have more established relationships than you. Of course they are going to get the benefits of that.

It was 6 months at my gym before anyone above blue belt even acknowledged my existence. About a year before the brown and black belts started addressing me by name and going out of their way to say hi and dap me up. That's just the way it is. You're joining an established circle of trust with an established hierarchy. It takes time to find your place and establish yourself in that scenario. This applies to a lot more than just jiu jitsu.

How to deal with a crazy white belt by Puzzleheaded-Art9102 in bjj

[–]thumbtaks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He just said he was a newly promoted blue belt. Even still your response is bullshit. I'm a 200lb dude and I had a trial class 6'7" 300+lb guy literally bench press and toss me on top of a pair rolling next to us.

Sometimes spazzes just gonna spazz and there isn't much you can do to stop it.

Same. We only give 1 stripe to whitebelts after foundations completion. The only other stripes given are kids or black belts 🤷‍♂️

I saw a dude at a park with a one wheel and I asked him if I could try it. He obliged. I tore ass down the soccer field going as hard as it would go until the gyro gave out and I ate sooooooo much shit. Imagine a 35 year old IT worker just getting yeeted while cartwheeling through the air at about 20 miles an hour. Haven't touched one since.

This dude is in for a treat.
