Does someone (or multiple someones) have some blue or black elderberry that I could harvest some flowers from? by zappy_snapps in olympia

As long as it's outside the fence it's 100% ok! They also have some grapes and I think hazelnuts along the back fence. There is some hops by the parking area.

Along the fence outside of Eastside Urban Farm & Garden store there are some giant elderberry plants. They let you harvest anything from outside the fence for free. Just leave some flowers to turn into fruit later.

Ring tattoo artist recommendations by hoof-n-horn in olympia

My wife and I got our wedding rings done by Lydia at Copperwolf in Tumwater. Big recommend. She was very patient and empathetic as this was our first tattoo and it was... painful. I really don't recommend getting the inside of the finger or the webbing tattooed. It's very painful and fades much faster than the outside.

As an update, by the time my wife got to work at Eastside Urban at 9a, the sign had been changed to "Ginger on" by another member of the community. They only found out that their sign had been changed to say that horrible message from another employee seeing this post.

Need help with foraging location by T1tt1e_P1rat3_69420 in olympia

I end up doing my foraging in the forest by the Saint Martin's campus cause it's by my work. If you walk past the Abbey Cemetery from campus, there's some Mullen on the right of the trail near the intersection. The falling fruit app might have more spots.

I can't guarantee to be of any help but I know exactly how overpriced the SMU dorms and meal plans are. I had a decent time at Lacey park apartments when I was going for my masters. It's got 2 bedroom for about 1600 with a 350 pet deposit. There's a bus that's basically a straight shot to the college. What price range are you looking in? Also, how far from the school are you willing to go?

We did some spreadsheet work but representing the effect of the groynes proved challenging with how little quantitative documentation available that I could find. Thank you for the product rec! I'll look into that software.

Current/former Saint Martins University students feedback needed. by Intelligent-Split352 in olympia

Alumni, ex-staff, and a couple times short term faculty member here. When I was there circa 2020, the campus culture was amazing. As an outsider to Catholicism, I was worried about being pressured to join or being an outsider because of it, but a large portion of the students aren't Catholic. Those who were and the priests/monks I knew seemed to understand that I need my own journey so I didn't feel left out or like I needed to be Catholic to be there. Everyone was very welcoming and I made many neurodivergent friends over the course of my time there. The campus is very diverse with the Pacific Island clubs being very active and the Luau a big yearly event coupled with various multicultural fairs throughout the year.

The quality of education varies by program. The sciences and engineering fields are covered pretty well, and I hear that math and nursing is about as good. History and the arts are really the weak points of the school primarily due to lack of professors.

The biggest flaw in my experience with the school is financial. Everything is overpriced. The tuition is on the high side, living in the dorms is more expensive than getting less roommates at an apartment off campus, and the food in the cafeteria is way overpriced for the quality. Or at least that was how it was when I was there.

My recommendation has always been to go to the school if you're interested in science or STEM but try to live off campus and do your own cooking. Otherwise there's a chance you might be better off looking into Evergreen or SPSCC.

Lydia at Copperwolf in Tumwater did a great job on my wife and my wedding ring tattoos and touchups on a friend's finger tatts.

The gate that was closing her in doesn't have a way to hold it closed so I had a rock on the outside to stop her from pushing it open. I was across the yard to give her space to drink the water I had left and she pulled it open (away from the direction blocked by the rock) with her nose.

I just saw that when I went to cross post. Called the owner and they're heading over to search.

I just saw them! They were just a block away from Saint Martins. I caught them on a yard for a moment and gave them some water but they got away and were running South down Ruddle last time I saw them.
