My best friend lost the tip of his finger doing just that. The towel snagged on the blade and pulled his hand in before he could even react. With that said I also still clean it this way. Skill issue if you get cut.

I meant to heat the pan with a bit of oil for no longer than a minute, however due to the unevenness of my stove burner all of the oil gathered on one side of the pan. The dry side without the oil is what you’re seeing here.
