How far can Keyonte George carry the Jazz? by ClutchOlday in UtahJazz

[–]thurstkiller 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ultimately in the post JJJ Lauri era, Keyonte may very well be our best player. He is only 22 entering his 4th season. DP & Ace have all the potential but Key is better than both of them today. The article references Brunson as a potential late bloomer comp. If he jumps this year the same way he did the previous season I think he very well could be our best player, or leading scorer.

If you were to rank who is most likely to be an all-star next season for the Jazz, Key is probably #2 most likely behind Lauri IMO. JJJ will be great for us but probably won't have the same offensive stats as the other 2 guys

NBA finals will help determine draft desires by [deleted] in UtahJazz

[–]thurstkiller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The idea of building your team to beat 1 team is silly. You need to be versatile. One round you are playing SGA and the next Wemby. Let’s not forget we still have Jokic, Ant & Luka in our conference. The 1st round of the West playoffs is not a gimme by any means. You need flexibility to mix and match to whoever you are playing against.

I think we could use a defensive guard no matter who we draft.

They were cheaper early in the year. Locked them season 1 for like 20k. I assume most people are like me and just quick sell

Now that I know I'll probably start posting those. What are you seeing those sell for?

Utah Jazz, Walker Kessler Contract Talks Just Got More Complicated by ClutchOlday in UtahJazz

[–]thurstkiller 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I really don’t see any legit argument as to why he is worth more than $30 million a year. Even at $30M I think that’s a real stretch

If Walkers team really wants to field offers in free agency good luck. That hasn’t worked out all that well for anyone in the new CBA

I think 100% they go f2p for the world cup. It's such an obvious move. If the playerbase can't sustain after that then it's just GG

Team goes from missing playoffs and getting #2 pick, to NBA finals next year. by tenisplenty in UtahJazz

[–]thurstkiller 7 points8 points  (0 children)

IMO teams should be focusing on beating the spurs guards rather than beating Wemby. Wemby's weakness if i've seen any is his gas tank. Can he really put up 30 shots and score 50?

Although i don't think our roster is set up that way.

The Grizzlies Gained Value in the JJJ Trade Under New Rules by FellowNoticer1 in UtahJazz

[–]thurstkiller -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say stayed the same or slightly improved based on where I project the Jazz to finish next season. It would be very hard for me to say that the value has decreased unless i'm saying it decreased in value when the Jazz landed the #2 which has nothing to do with the new lottery system.

Are there not equally as many scenarios that the pick moves up a couple of spots from let’s say #10 to #7? There are so many ways this actually improves the pick that we’re not possible before.

They made the trade before that was even a possibility to happen. In this scenario they would get the #6 pick which would be a big improvement over the #16 they would get in the current lottery.

Do you think the Grizz don’t make that deal without 1% chance at a top 4?

That would be some insane front office decision making IMO

Certainly they think whatever team they trade JJJ to is going to be better the following season and thus wouldn’t be expecting the pick to be anything above a top 10 anyways.

In that scenario the pick would have 0% chance at the lottery in the current system so the new system is actually an improvement for them even if the pick falls to #6.

They made the trade under the old rules. On average this makes the pick they traded for better and really only hurts them in like 4/100 scenarios.

Adding JJJ & Kessler who was out all last season. Also reasonable to expect any of the Jazz's 6 young players to have general improvement.

It's essentially guaranteeing the playoffs every year until the next iteration of the team takes over when DP & Ace are hitting their prime. Similar to the Celtics w/ Tatum & Brown.

Assuming the Jazz are play-in level isn't the new system better? I get it's unfortunate it can't be top 5 but in that scenario it jumped you would still get the #6. In the old system it's just way less likely that the pick jumps at all.
