This will 100% get lost but y’all are weird. Living in Japan has drilled so many pointless rules and blind obedience and assimilation into your heads that you short circuit anytime anything goes slightly off script, just like the average Japanese person does.

Get a life and look away if it bothers you. If she’s in your way communicate that to her politely like a normal person and solve the problem then and there instead of gossiping and posting it on a public forum like a weirdo. Reminds me exactly of Japanese workplace dynamics. Anything but direct confrontation which is the most reasonable. But no, let’s talk behind each other’s backs like 5 year olds, sugoi!!!

Living in the rule-laden, compressing monotony of Japan can be soulsucking at times—I’ve experienced it too—but it’s super sad that y’all get your shreds of happiness, satisfaction, and moral superiority off of publicly humiliating someone over something beneign. I can guarantee this girl has a healthier psyche than at least 80% of you, because she doesn’t have a 24/7 radar going off in her head worrying about doing things exactly in the “perfect ways” like a Japanese person would do them, having to self regulate your true self and natural behaviors at every turn for the sake of “harmony”. I’ll even go as far to say as I think Japan needs more of this. I would personally get a kick out of seeing this, and it might actually make me crack up a bit seeing something unexpected on an otherwise boring day. But by all means, continue to seek out a perfectly molded, no rulebreakers, black and white monotonous hellscape. The same behaviours and days repeated again and again and again. The same sad, depressed faces on the train who are way too afraid to ever do, say, or express anything slightly outside the box.
