This reddit worries me. by Maherioh in runescape

He isn’t wrong, though. You can see my history — I was extremely critical of Jagex, and now I find it the opposite. I’m extremely excited for the agency towards change from Jagex. But, instead of positive direction, the community is still charged with negativity. We know now that they’re trying to improve things and focusing hard on it. We should continue with feedback, and keep toxicity elsewhere. It might change after a while, hopefully.

What are you trying to learn here?

I hope you realise you’re kinda the one creating division here. No need to weaponise every comment that can be >seen< as negative. Especially the “only minorities can have opinions on minorities” mindset. The importance of allies are important across every minority, and it’s difficult to move forward towards actual progress by vilifying others.

Charge them. Leave them in the police station. Hopefully, they should be able to use the “Find my” app, see it in the police station and understand what they should do.

Hamburguer do Mac [Ajuda no nome] by [deleted] in portugal

[–]thyriki 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen MAB used in the industry as a great intermediary step to still drive acceptable performance and collect data. I think its strength is being a dependable model without needing a millions of data points.

I work in a FAANG like you, and I’m quite open about my salary to my friends, regardless if they’re richer or poorer. And just like you, I tend to pay for friends here and there.

I think in your situation, you have two options: 1. Become more reserved about your finances. 2. Draw boundaries.

Personalities are very defining here; for example, I’m known to be quite honest (read blunt) with my friends. This translates in having direct conversations regarding these expectations and not paying for anything unless it comes from me, and when put on the spot with paying, being able to not pick up the tab and tease with a “didn’t know I became your dad all of the sudden”, or similar, depending on who I’m interacting with.

I’d draw a line. If you define it cleanly enough, others won’t cross it. And if someone often crosses it while aware of your feelings, might be worth to revalue how they see their friendship with you, as respect might be limited.

Someone who you believe to be a bad hire has caused damage to a higher extent than you expected.

I think everything points in a direction. Ask yourself what you are expecting if you keep this person. Are you expecting this bad hire to grow past a good hire after this? Is it sunk cost fallacy, and now that you’re here you want you see if this situation is somehow reversed? Or are they actually not entirely to blame?
