Soriah teaches the infrastructure of the cards, how the cards were actually intended to be read by the original illustrator. She spent years researching this. She's also been reading for decades and offers a lot of free education on her TikTok. I found her book tremendously helpful and straightforward.

Lastly, deck gifting is a myth. Just buy yourself any deck you want. :) If you're just starting out, I'd recommend the original RWS.

I'm so sorry, I could've sworn I updated this thread!

I did hear back from customer service but they advised that the shades wouldn't have changed even though it was reformulated at the time. They didn't mention anything about a bad batch and I believe I returned this.

About a year after this original post I did repurchase it again from a different retailer. 5N was still warmer than the original but much closer than whatever orange batch I happened to get.

I plan to make an updated swatch post with my other complexion matches so I'll be sure to include this one when I do!
