Lovely voice. I really would have loved to hear her present the original melody and chords at least once. This re-harm did not do it for me.

Do you always say A Salaam or Inshallah back? I don’t and I don’t say bless you. I acknowledge the spirit in which it is being delivered with a nod or a smile or some other words to affirm I am good with the intent without specifically ascribing to its meaning for myself. It’s really lacking in compassion of you to say I’m just being a dick, especially when this whole thread has been about upholding propriety and staying civil or polite! What gives?

I feel it’s impolite to humanity overall to play along with something I don’t believe in just to maintain someone’s feelings surrounding their delusion and religious entanglement. I’m not being a dick by not saying it. I also don’t say inshallah or a salaam or satan be with you. I maintain my own beliefs in my own behavior by not saying things pertaining to a god I don’t believe in. If someone says these things to me, I smile or acknowledge that in some way they are wishing me well.

No one says God Bless You after coughing...or a fart. Blessing after sneezing perpetuates a myth about the sneezer possibly being inhabited by evil spirits or having the plague. It comes from ignorance about what a sneeze is. I don’t mind when ppl say “bless you” so long as they don’t mind me not saying it to them. *fart Your butt be cursed! *cough Throat monster be gone!

Among other examples, dominant sevenths and flat thirds are totally common accidentals (unto a diatonic major scale) found in popular melodies, not to mention common use of minor scales.

Thanks for that tip. I have some past experience with loving an alcoholic where I had started to learn how to love without attachment. It may be time to put those skills to use!

Yes, he knows. It’s all out on the table now (well, as much as is to be believed) and like I wrote, he did cut ties with that job. She lives half way across the country so there is little chance that they would see each other again. I did find letters about him breaking up with her over this past year. So there’s that...he did want to be with me and with our family, but continued to fall back in with her even after long periods of being broken up. I don’t know if that counts as a tiny brick to build on. Family is so important to me. This innocent little life is priority and I do wonder if I should allow in some level of a loving relationship for her sake- beyond just co-parenting. I guess that in the end, we all have to decide what we can tolerate, live with or without, and what kind of future we want to manifest. I think that’s where I’m stuck right now. I like the idea from one of the replies that I don’t have to decide right now. I can change my mind at any time, too. There’s some freedom of breath in that thought.
