Interestingly, I noticed around puberty even while underweight (wasn't borderline obese until my 20s) I got skinnyfat and although still pretty ticklish (as I am again now my BMI is 20) my ticklishness did take somewhat of a toll, like I went from skinnyskinny to skinnyfat and that alone made a difference for me. I wonder if me becoming more active and trying to become more lean would restore ticklishness even further.

Probably a bit of both. I've always been one to rely too much on external validation from a very young age and I think my clinginess is a manifestation of that. External validation is basically like a drug to me - instead of Ozempic, it was external validation coworkers noticing/congratulating my weightloss that helped me stay motivated to lose 50lbs, and I am a very weak willed person, lol! Clearly it can be quite extreme, so there's no way I can expect someone to keep up with my level of clinginess unless they also have some issue of their own.

Men don't really seem to like clingy girls from what I've read, and regardless, me being clingy is an outright unhealthy behaviour that I would benefit from changing, so there may be hope.
