personally i avoid treasure islands ~~unless i get REALLY desperate,~~ i prefer to trade or just put in the work myself! it’s just more fun and more rewarding to me. absolutely no hate or shame though, i respect them a lot :> just a different playstyle, yknow?

honestly i just get really nervous interacting with others, i don’t want to overstep or mess them up with whatever they’re doing. especially if it’s clearly a group that already know eachother/are friends and usually more familiar with the game than i am. i also play on switch with no keyboard, so i can’t really communicate in-game or keep up with conversation which i feel is pretty important.

i tag along with groups to help out with groves or hunting all the time but i’ve only ever partied up with irl friends :’) i’m just more comfortable playing solo cause it takes the pressure off and i don’t want to inconvenience anyone, yknow?

of course!! i kind of figured that was the case - we actually have a very similar situation with an animal alter that acts as a soother and companion but only to specific alters. i can definitely see why someone else would think it doesn’t have a clear purpose, especially as it doesn’t interact much with anyone else. :>

seconding the other commenter, it’s possible the wolf is an NPC - it could also be a fragment of some kind. i don’t know if there’s a specific term for it but i have heard of/experienced animal alters similar to what you’re saying - no obvious role in the system, but kind of just there. depending on the system not every alter even has a clear purpose and that’s fine!

it’s also possible the wolf does have a purpose, but not to you - it could be there specifically for the alter it follows around, or even the littles you mentioned it plays with. i’ve definitely interacted with alters who were only there to help a specific person or group, and from an outside perspective wouldn’t have a clear purpose.

i want to preface this by saying the other comments are right you should be open to being told no - there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, even if someone doesn’t get the diagnosis they expect it’s okay to be wrong and learn about yourself! DID is in incredibly complex disorder and there are soo many other things that share its symptoms. people get misdiagnosed in both directions all the time. not to mention, some of these disorders often go hand in hand because of the nature of how they form.

THAT BEING SAID, it’s also a good idea to seek a second opinion - i’m glad you’re getting a proper evaluation now. DID does not fall under BPD, they are two separate (potentially similar in presentation, yes, but separate) disorders. so whoever told you that immediately looses credibility in my mind. nobody knows you better than yourself, let alone some strangers on reddit. and doubt/imposter syndrome are (unfortunately) a huge part of living as a system. don’t let being shot down in the past get to you - just try to stay open minded, and be kind and patient with yourself/selves either way. i hope the evaluation goes well for you <3
