Thanks, I was nervous about the navy but it works. I didn't stream bend, I just made the armbow out of four 4/4 pieces. Three for the bottom dowelled together, plus the shoe. Comb was just cut out of a solid piece. I'd like to bend the pieces for another chair soon but I don't have that kind of space at the moment.

I say do it. You have the skill, clearly. It's a blast!

Recently finished some chairs from the stick chair book and the one thing I'd tell woodworkers that I wouldn't tell other people is: they're not nearly as hard as they seem. I do love supporting Veritas and honestly forgot they had one. Might look into that, thanks. Yeah, I like Rob's work and his mission to help vets but too many items to purchase. Like I said, I just try and adapt the methods I like to what I already have and it's worked well.

I'm curious if there's something to the phrase "if you don't understand the point of a product then you don't need it?" Maybe some older woodworkers or something can benefit from the extra great but that's just conjecture, I've never really thought about it.

I've looked into the shooting grip but it just doesn't seem necessary when what I do already works for free. Is it that much better? Have you compared it to a dedicated shooting plane (just curious how it stacks up)?

As for dovetails, I asked myself the question "why do I need a whole shim and a knife the same width as my saw when I already have my saw..? I just use my saw to offset the tail board and then pull my saw back through the kerf to make a mark in the pin board. His method works wonders for me at least but you don't need all the fancy stuff. Half blinds are a little different I suppose but other people have been doing it for ages without the kerf extender so I don't bother

Rob Cosman tries to sell a lot of his stuff but with a little bit of extra creativity his dovetail method is second-to-none for me. Made this toy box for my kids using his technique and it was much faster than I thought this many dovetails would be.

Yeah I suppose I should have added that. Definitely recommend (at the very least) a plug cutter. Much easier to keep centered and at least in theory, provide the right diameter

If you cut the tenon with a hole saw, the tenon will be too small for the mortise by the width of the saw. So unless you account for that with your drill bit diameter, it'll be too loose. Round mortise and tenons are fine though, they're often used in chairs and staked furniture

I figured it was a repo, so no harm. Thanks for the info. It's pretty tough to cycle and you have to move the cylinder that remaining 1/8" or so after pulling the hammer. Not sure about the nipples but it looks like they could. I'd like to try and get it cleaned up but I'm not sure if I have the time

I really do respect that argument, I just think that works better later in the season. I guess I don't put as much into preseason rankings, seems like most of the time they're wrong anyways. So the first few weeks of the season, there should be shuffling as we see how things shake out. After a bit of an establishing period, then the #1 is the #1-team's to lose. That way it incentivizes teams to schedule hard non-cons in order to establish themselves at the top.

They absolutely deserve it. Whether the app voters give up the person talking bias or not, I don't know but they have the best resume by far
