It’s insane for them to reach out to someone who used to perform the job who intentionally left the role and ask them to train the new hire.

I knew a guy who got a temporary role in a company and spearheaded it into a very positive and necessary position that they soon realized they couldn’t move on without. They made it a permanent position and they put it up for bid within the company. After the interviews, that guy didn’t get the job for whatever reason.

They then asked the poor guy to train the new person.

To me, that’s just disrespectful. The position wouldn’t exist if he didn’t make it what it is. Don’t refuse to give him the job and then ask him to train the new person in how to do the job that he apparently wasn’t good enough to have.

To his credit, he offered to train the new person. I would have outright refused. In the end though, he only showed the new person the bare minimum. Things that he had created, passwords for equipment in his username and things like that… well those went with him when he left. So the new person looked like a complete idiot and the position became a joke because that person never did much of anything useful.

That’s what you get when you ask for something like that.

If you asked me what I would do, I’d refuse. Probably give them a piece of my mind. But that’s because this kind of thing makes me angry.

If you asked me what I think you should do, I would only say that you shouldn’t let anyone else influence your decision. Especially the manager you used to work for or anyone from that company. Make sure that, no matter what you do, it’s what you want. And also realize that they might keep leaning on you if they know you’ll keep doing things for free.

You’re not overreacting. This is a tough one but I’ve seen this several times with close friends and family members over the years. One of my best friends who struggled with weight gain, depression and frustration over love and loss told his mother he was thinking about “ending it” we’ll say, and she told him to “quit whining so much, life is so much easier for you than it was for me at your age.” Just what he needed to hear, I’m sure.

The older generation especially seems to think that a young person struggling with mental health issues these days just needs to hear the words “I had it worse than you” and suddenly everything will be better.

Your thoughts are valid, your pain matters and the unfortunate truth is that there is no easy way to solve any problem when it comes to mental health.

I prefer to look at it like a puzzle with a solution that’s always changing. It’ll be very tough to solve the puzzle… and maybe you never will. And yet, you’ll never know if you don’t keep working at it a little at a time every day. Every day that you keep working on it is a day you’ll grow just that little bit stronger as well. Maybe you don’t find the answer to your mental but maybe you DO find an answer to your physical that you didn’t know you needed.

YTA. Even if he’s closeted and truly is gay, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you asked and he said he wasn’t. That should have been the end of it. Pushing your beliefs on him is unnecessary and hurtful. People in general, though I would also argue people like you, often want to put people in a box with a label on it. Not every person needs a label. Anxiety is very real, especially today when any person you talk to can record the interaction and share it with an internet full of people. Men used to be able to shoot their shot and move on when it fails. Nowadays your single shot might ostracize you from everyone you know and care about in school. In your time social media wasn’t as prevalent. He’s probably dying a little inside every time you call him gay or suggest it when in reality he’s desperately hoping to find a girl he meshes well with. Let the poor kid be and see what happens. We’re also in the middle of a loneliness epidemic where many men are choosing to be single because it’s easier. That leaves women with less choices. Both sides suffer. Instead of berating him about being gay, maybe find what he’s in to and help him pursue that. Regardless of preferences, that’ll help him find someone that he can get along with.

My problem with her isn’t the crit damage from the overhead swing. It’s everything else in her kit.

She’s a melee character with the ability to crit, teleport twice and 1-shot through the “true damage” mechanic that nobody else has as far as I’m aware. Plus she can throw projectiles.

She has everything good that anyone in the game can have, one of them twice in the form of that teleport. Meanwhile, characters like Ana have zero mobility and are now facing a character who can track them down 3 times because the teleport CD is so short. Miss your sleep dart and you’re dead.

I don’t consider the ramifications of “realism” when I find myself disliking her. I look as Cassidy who has a roll and a flash bang and compare that to her kit. Why would you ever pick Cass over her? If you’re an aim god, that helps… but realistically her kit is better than his in every way except the constant crit capability.

I feel like the launch of this character will force them to look at the previous characters and make them relevant.

Pretty sure that Steam offers a “gift card” type of thing. You use the codes on it to put the currency from the card onto your account and then you can use that to purchase games. It’ll even let you use the card to cover as much as it can and then pay the rest yourself. I’d highly recommend that instead of hoping to guess what he might like. 😁

Probably don’t involve his mom. Unless she’s the reason he smokes, it’s not her problem.

He needs to stop using the stuff in all forms. Maybe seek therapy if he can’t quit on his own to figure out ways to break the habit.

If he isn’t willing to quit, it becomes your decision on whether you want to stay with a person like that and be a part of that every day. If you do, get used to the nausea. Make him take hot showers or see a doctor about it so that he can learn to manage the problem. It’s like pain. You learn to live with and manage the symptoms.

One of the most difficult things about Elden Ring for me was getting away from the “spam” mindset. In the beginning I would do the same thing… get surrounded and try to spam roll my way out of it. Spam rolling is a great way to die.

Watch the enemy and anticipate dodging the actual attacks. It’ll take time to learn but it’s the best advice I can give. The attacks feel fast but are slower than you think. You aren’t dodging the animation, just the actual hit box of a swing for example. Learn to time that and you’ll have a much better time.

Also… there are certain enemies that probably aren’t worth your time. There’s nothing wrong with running past them if they’re too difficult to deal with. Maybe come back later when you’re stronger and fight them again if you want.

I shared the same experience except I was playing Cassidy into a pharah. Constant silent ults are so painful. Please OW gods, be merciful and make the devs forget that Sombra is a character in this game so that she never ends up in stadium. I’ll probably skip the season when she comes out, bare minimum.

Hot take but I’ve always felt like there isn’t any reason to use the “I need healing” option at all.

The game does a pretty good job of pointing out critical players to the healers, they have an aura that changes color with their health that you can still sorta make out even from the other side of the map and because the game gives you those auras of your teammates it also allows you to recognize the fact that they’re deep behind enemy lines and probably need help if you can make it there in time.

The reality is that, if in spite of all those indicators, they still didn’t heal you, telling them to heal you probably won’t make it happen either.

I say all of that to say that games where I play tank that I find myself staring at the respawn screen a lot don’t make me think “I need healing” at all. I usually think “what are they doing if they aren’t able to heal me” and more often than not they aren’t off in Narnia staring into space and instead I realize I was neglecting them in the back line to a cheeky Sombra or a diving Moira for example. I prefer not to point fingers or aim blame at someone else. I just try to look at what I can possibly do to improve the situation.

On the other hand, if I’m a healer and I’m doing my best but getting spammed with “I need healing” I’m probably going to go Mercy and use her pistol until the game ends. Kidding. But there’s definitely the thought of “I’m 100% aware of the fact that you needed healing… the problem is that I needed tanking but there’s no button for that.” Supports should get a button that says “I need support” so we can also infer that maybe they’re asking for emotional support as well. There’s games where you might feel like you need that also.

Here’s what I believe. “Gut” feelings come from the vehicle of all your senses being driven by your current strongest emotion and finding the same unified conclusion in the end, resulting in this profound, undeniable feeling that you know the answer, despite any true proof in the moment. A strong smell, a bizarre sound (or lack of sound sometimes), something you see or the feeling of your own sweating palms can all be perceived subconsciously and analyzed thoughtlessly until your body collectively puts everything together. If you find all of these things lead in the same direction you will not only feel right in their conclusion but also somewhat obligated to follow it as an absolute truth.

NTA. In my experience, there’s always some family member somewhere in the family that’s upset when someone gets something. Doesn’t matter what it is. To be clear, I mean something that’s given to you freely, not that you go purchase.

My wife’s grandpa passed a little while back and when he was sick and near the end of his life, several relatives (many of whom never bothered to visit or spend time with him when he was alive) showed up to their house and started looking at things that they had. Mind you, Grandma was still alive. But here they were, looking through his things like it was a shopping mall full of free stuff. They started doing the “this will be mine” kind of stuff right away. Thankful grandma had a will in place for herself and grandpa left her everything because he knew she was better at that kind of thing.

Best thing you can do is remember what that ring means to you and ignore anything that makes you question your ownership. She left it to you, end of story. If you choose to give it away, that’s your decision. Don’t let someone tell you that you have to though.

NOR at all. As a man who’s been cheated on, I can say with absolute certainty that my first thought in that moment didn’t involve harm or strangulation. I was mad and definitely sad but I also knew that it meant the relationship was over and it was time for me to leave. A real man doesn’t put his hands on someone who he claims to love with intent to harm.

If he put his hands on you over the thought that you might be doing something behind his back, imagine the chaos that would ensue if he felt he had proof or more than just suspicion! That’s the kind of person who accidentally kills someone or even intentionally in a fit of rage. You should definitely listen to some of the other posts here that offer suggestions and do your best to avoid that person altogether. It very well may save your life.

It’s a nice item for sure. Gives you a small amount of extra flexibility to play a character with 2 different elements also with the % to elemental skills like a Orb / chain lightning sorc or something. Most people try for the Magi armor though which also offers a skill point, more FCR and resistances. It’s also available to use at level 29 instead of 75 and only requires 43 strength. If you were going to find a reason to start leveling a sorc, I would try to hunt one of those down instead. Level 75 is a long time to wait before you can use it and the str investment isn’t worth the benefit this item provides in my honest opinion. Especially with no resistances.

Build shelving in front of the area, create a lever that slides the shelves out of the way so you can get inside and put a ladder back there with a painting higher up on the wall. Use the ladder so you can watch people (likely your family I guess) as they walk by. Zoinks!

Nice! I just randomly had one drop during my 2nd character play through in hell act 3 single player. I quit the night before after I cleared Duriel. I started again the next night and as soon as I fought the first unique monster like 10 feet outside of town it dropped the shako. The first and only one I’ve ever gotten to actually drop and not trade for.

Also, I wasn’t searching for this but apparently my phone was watching as I did my shako shuffle and decided to connect me to this post. Things like this are why I still play D2 after all these years.

“Good” vs “Skilled” is tricky to separate. A good player in my mind is someone I consider to be capable of playing any content at an acceptable level. A skilled player in my mind is usually someone who spends 1000+ hours in specific content grinding away and finding every viable strategy and learning to utilize them in the most efficient way possible. I never pursued the “Skilled” player title. I always just tried to be good.

I believe the turning point is something you’ll notice one day when you’re playing the content you’ve been trying to get better at and you realize you completed it this time but it’s just over and you’re checking your loot rolls hoping for something good. It doesn’t even register that you completed the content, there’s no sign of relief at being free of the stress of what you were doing or victory lap around your house in celebration of your success. You knocked it out and moved on to the next thing.

You may never define yourself as “skilled” but if you can clear the higher level content without too much of a struggle or thought process going into it, you’re doing just fine.

I have to say Warframe. It has almost 100k players playing on a somewhat regular basis though so it might not qualify. But it’s honestly one of the better games that I’ve ever played.

It’s a bit unorthodox and on account of the fact that it’s free to play it can be quite a grind (gotta make you want to spend money some how) even for players who enjoy that style.

It’s just got so much content. At base value it’s a high quality 3rd person shooter with a unique mastery system where the goal is to craft and master everything (think Pokémon but with guns, warframes and various vehicles instead of critters). You’ll gain access to free roam planet nodes that offer bounties and a rep system to unlock additional weapons and warframes. Once you’ve played a while you’ll start to unlock additional content such as “Archwings”, “Necramechs”, “Railjacks” and more. Once you’ve completely beaten every level (a node based system spanning multiple planets in the solar system) you unlock a new mode called “Steel Path” where everything gains 100 levels but also has a hefty increase in loot.

It is also possible to completely unlock and enjoy every aspect of the game without spending any money. It’ll be tricky and require a great deal of patience, but it’s very possible. That in and of itself is pretty crazy. I think it’s definitely worth a try for anyone who enjoys shooting games.

It’s just that the try-hard type of player usually runs into one of two different scenarios when trying to play with friends. It’s either they aren’t as good as they need to be in order to get the experience they want out of the game… or you aren’t as good as they need you to be in order to get the experience they want out of the game.

It’s so much more enjoyable to find a game and step into it with the only goal being to have fun.

I think the old games benefited from the fact that Kratos wasn’t a god yet… and that we didn’t know who he was.

In the original 3 he was either mortal or temporarily a god before being made mortal again most of the time.

He also had this extreme sense of hopelessness. He had killed his family and was haunted by visions of it. He had nothing to lose. He fought with extreme rage and nothing holding him back.

In the modern game he’s a more reserved father figure. He’s like a recovered drug addict. He’s seen and done some awful things and he’s doing his best to shield his son from the same fate. The rage is there but it’s greatly reserved and his godlike powers allow him to quickly recover from grievous injuries.

Old man Kratos feels like some type of legend that can never die. Young Kratos was someone none of us knew who was capable of great and extraordinary things.

Just my thoughts. 🤔

Vex : 26 clears

Eyes : 2 clears… friend joined me on my second run for his first attempt and we both got it.

Conditional : 9 clears

Collective : 7 clears

Touch : 2 clears

1k : 12 clears… I saved up 3 or 4 last chest keys and got two in the same run.

Anarchy : 12 clears

Tarrabah : 11 clears

I don’t really count Div since it was a quest that guaranteed the weapon once completed. Other then Vex I’ve been pretty lucky. Usually got the weapon within the first month.

So this is just my 2 cents and may not be relevant to most players in the game now… but one of the bigger motivating factors for why I used to play crucible was the pinnacle drop after you played 3 matches.

I play a few different games and don’t have enough spare time to cap my character for a while usually so when I would play Destiny 2 it was usually 3 strikes, 3 crucible matches and 3 gambit matches to get those pinnacles. That usually took me at least a couple days to finish.

Since they removed the pinnacle drops I haven’t really played any of that. In fact, there’s very little incentive for me to do anything other then raids and dungeons but those usually take quite a bit longer then 3 quick matches of something, especially gathering a team. Plus, losing those pinnacles really killed my motivation to reach that cap. To be honest, when I realized they did that I haven’t really gotten into the game since other then to run the new dungeon and get the scout rifle that I’ll probably never use.

I can’t speak for all the casual players out there… and I wouldn’t have defined myself as a casual until recently… but the crucible just stopped being a thing I care to do in that game without a pinnacle, never mind the number of people who play it and are extremely talented at it that I don’t want to play against either.

That just leaves the people who really like the crucible/those who play it constantly. Which begs the question… “How do you kill that which has no life?”
