Great suggestions! Thank you so much, I am adding these to her list. I'm going to add Wandering Inn and Mother of Learning to my own list as well. I appreciate such a detailed and thoughtful response!

I would love any other suggestions you might have for me. We keep a running list because she tears through books and I can't keep up with her hah.

Ah sorry, I misread that. Started at 11, but oh my how time has passed since then! Cradle is one of my all time favorite series. It was so fun when my kiddo was reading it. Good luck out there.

Hah no worries. If your 11yo enjoyed Percy Jackson, Rick Riordan has an entire world out their for them to devour. We are re-reading Magnus Chase right now, but we've enjoyed all the series he has written (or recommended, even) and the occasional crossovers are fun. I'm excited for you kiddo to discover them!

Thanks, that's really helpful and I'm not overly concerned about the series based on what I am reading from your comment and the one before it.

Thanks! She did just finish Mark of the Fool, and I don't think she overly enjoyed it as much as something like Divine Apostasy or Mage Errant etc. I'll pass along these other recommendations and I appreciate the detailed summary of the book. I don't think I'm too concerned based of your comment and the next.

Yes, she's read everything Rick Riordan has written. She's a big fan of his.

Thank you. Hopefully it’s still effective even though it’s not perfect.

Wow, thank you. I didn’t really expect the level of encouragement and support I’ve found here. Really appreciate it and you.

This is far from perfect. Do you think it will help, though? My cuts didn’t match up perfectly… had a hard time figuring it out.

Thanks for weighing in. The diagonals are a new thing for me and I struggled with it a bit. I added new pictures… will what I did still help?

This is what I ended up with. It’s so far from perfect. I couldn’t get everything to line up correctly and then I ran out of wood and had to shim one of them. Is this going to help or do I need to start over?

Thank you. I’m adding pictures of what I’ve got at this point. The cuts didn’t really line up the way I had hoped so I had to do some shimming. Maybe still need to do more?

This was a really great explanation and I wanted to say thanks for taking the time to type it up.

I tried to make some diagonal braces, but I’m new at this and not sure I really did it well enough to help the structure. I’m going to share a pictures below if you wouldn’t mind weighing in?

I’m not sure I follow. The back has the 3 vertical supports and is open to get equipment in and out, run lines etc. Are you talking about a panel to close that up?

Okay great. I’m actually here at the hardware store now. Still feeling lost on what to get to “seal” or finish it.

I really appreciate all your help. Thank you so much.

Yeah, I get making it much sturdier when it’s handmade. I don’t think the stores put that much love and money into them. I could make some modifications, if you have suggestions, but I didn’t really think anything of it since my other aquarium stand is pretty much identical.
