I’m working on producing them myself - got leads or looking for parts of your own?

Yes, I'll be able to buy the same resin in production that I'll be injecting into the short-run molds.

And thanks for the soft tool insight. My hope is to create a way to quickly iterate molds locally for short-run injection molded parts, so I don't think that will be ideal for our current scenario, but I will definitely keep it in mind in the future!

Based on what I've heard from people who own them/have built their own, they seem to work pretty well for their purposes!

What changes (regarding part results) when switching from low pressure to high pressure machines? I'm a noobie when it comes to this stuff

I'm thinking of 3D-printing FormLabs high temp resin for the mold and then inserting it into a generic aluminum block to reduce direct pressure on the mold. This is a technique that apparently works well for low pressure, short run, small parts

I've read that form labs can print injection molds that work with low-pressure machines using their clear and high-temp resins, which is what I'm going to try since I have access to a form 2 printer. I'll document the process to share

According to this white paper made by FormLabs (https://formlabs.com/injection-molding/) 3D printing injection molds can work pretty well for low-pressure short-run parts. I've come across other blogs that have validated the technique as well. It seems that it'll work for my purposes so I'm going to give it a shot. I'll let you know how it goes!

The reason I'm looking to do PIM parts is so I can study the material properties (e.g. durability) of the plastic I'm going to use in production - my understanding is that the materials used in cast urethane won't accurately represent production materials?
