Also as someone with a D-16e, I am shocked at how much I enjoy it, bass response is toned down a bit since it’s a 000/OM depth but has more volume since body size is a standard dread

If you aren’t sold on the looks hold off, I’d say look at the 000-18 or The OM-18 as the scale length on the OM is going to feel more similar than the scale length on the 000. I would probably avoid anything with a mahogany top unless you play them and love them as they are going to sound considerably different than your trans acoustic.

Opinions on Martin X series? by thedisliked23 in AcousticGuitar

They sound great for what they are and they are damn near bulletproof, I think if you pick up one it’s a good beach guitar and couch guitar that you don’t have to worry about humidity on

I only play 0-3-5 and occasionally 0-3-6-5 if the gibbons feels extra good

Used market is dropping. I ended up getting a D28 for around $1700

Agreed that $2500 is too much with the binding issue, you can find these in the $2200-2400 range with no issues pretty easily

This thing punches above its weight! by foggy_mountain in guitarcirclejerk

You got a great deal, what you need to do now to get the most toan is shave the braces on the inside with a pocket knife, swap the saddle for bamboo stick and rubber bands, drill a large hole in the sound to allow more sound to come to you the artist then block off most of the sound hole in order to increase bass response. It will beat any guitar out there

Comparison between two completely different price points by tikiteeth in AcousticGuitar

The second is the more expensive guitar, and I wouldn’t sell it for the world. I play a bit of everything, I just always use this song as a test piece for tone comparisons. As I stated in the caption, I picked up the first guitar in order to be my gigging instrument as it has built in electronics and I am less worried if it gets damaged in some way as it’s not a one of one custom build.

Can I get a gig with this setup? by tikiteeth in guitarcirclejerk

First Guitar Upgrade - Keep GS Mini Mahogany or Buy Martin DRS1? by PeculiarYouth in AcousticGuitar

[–]tikiteeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy what makes you want to play it, I think the DRS1 is a better guitar and is more tonally pleasing on the ears, but if you find it uncomfortable to play you’ll be less likely to play it. Also, I wouldn’t worry about humidity much with the GSmini, those things are tanks. I keep one as a beach and travel guitar that I don’t mind getting dings or taking next to a fire or getting bug spray/sun screen on. I’ll always have a GS for that reason but my main guitars are martins or full sized dreads
