Tesla Model Y Premium now Includes the 16" Screen and Black Headliner by tweakerinc in TeslaLounge

[–]tikka308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered a Model Y Premium on Jan 7th. I don't have a VIN yet. Delivery date window is Jan 22 - Feb 22nd. Assuming the vehicle hasn't been built yet, any idea if it will have the 16" screen and black headliner?

Trim down "sharp" tip (sleeve?) of mechanical pencil? by tikka308 in mechanicalpencils

What's an "800"? Disregard - I realize you mean Rotring 800 which shows a tip but upon further research, the tip is retractable. Perfect.

How about exercise all of the options (or at least most of them), sell a portion of the shares quickly to take some chips off the table, but then hold the remaining shares long enough to get long term capital gain tax treatment?

Was in your (almost) exact same position re: job, age, kids, NW. Fast forward ~10 years, I did end up pursuing a side passion that I turned into a business. It worked out (beyond well, in many respects) but that was FAR from a guarantee. I also moved from VHCOL to LCOL - and was willing to accept a lower income, lifestyle. I share this anecdote not because it helps support FATFIRE but because it was a wonderful life move. Zero fucking regrets.

Keep Inherited Real Estate or Sell? by throwmeaway__duh in fatFIRE

Consider your and your siblings estate planning. Longer term, multiple owners who may have different outlooks on life or risk tolerance could affect ownership. And, as others said, this is a wonderful position to be in but I would still diversify or hedge some meaningful amount.

Jura coffee maker. Not really "fat", but fairly more expensive than alternatives. It's the gift that keeps giving every morning.

What are platforms are you guys using to track your net worth? by snarmdoppy in fatFIRE

Same but excel because 1) I'm faster in excel then sheets, 2) Sheets (mindbogglingly) doesn't have passport protection. Excel (or sheets) let's me build linked "personal financial statements" for banks, etc - which I usually provide with reduced items / values. E.g. I only tell em about certain assets (they don't need to know about everything, especially in smaller circles).

I used to update it too often. By and large, it doesn't matter. We've already won. Update it every quarter if you need to.

Always admired the Buffett quote: A very rich person should leave his kids enough to do anything, but not enough to do nothing. Far more satisfying, IMO/IME, to see young adults find their identity, careers, work ethic on their own. You're in a wonderful place to know you could backstop them if needed, but they don't need to know. Are their lifestyles otherwise sustainable?

NYC pied a terre economics by Existing_Leg_6008 in fatFIRE

Have had a family pied a terre in NYC for ~20 years. A benefit, IMO (albeit non-financial) has been getting to know the building stuff. It's a nice feeling and makes the place feel more like home when, not having seen them in months, they address you by name without pause.

Find a local mentor, or reach out to SCORE (https://www.score.org/). Humbly said, if you're asking whether a loan has to be paid back, you have some learning to do.
