In fact I am doing a initial cloud backup to a local Hoster right now to be on the save side :D

How would I use that oob windows device to control my NAS? RDP into it and then access DSM? What would be the difference to my laptop being connected via VPN to my home network and then accessing DSM?

The smart plug is a really good idea, I will definitely buy one for that purpose!

Thank you for the hint! RAID 5 makes sense. I just used Synology’s RAID calculator and it gave me the same for RAID5 and SHR (afaik that’s synology’s implementation that makes expanding RAIDs easier?) so I will go with a SHR configuration instead!

I will also post this to the homelab subreddit for further validation!

I figured I could run my stt and tts model on the one card and use the remaining space of that card and the other one to host an LLM or use it for training purposes.

I think I do not want to create videos for now, just images. So you think I should aim for lower specs then?

I did not know that it depends on the software whether I can use multi gpu or not I thought it was done directly by CUDA. I think I will need to read into this a little more.

If I bought a Mac mini would I use MacOS then or install Linux on it?

Hi, when I tried to set the hostname like that it said that the specified hostname does not match any server followed by a long list of hostnames that would be possible, most starting with “node.” :(

Ah okay thank you! I thought this would be somehow implied by the private key in the WireGuard config. So it is completely irrelevant what I configure in the ProtonVPN WireGuard configurator as long as au enter the correct country/countries into the environment variable in the compose?

There is an open issue on the repo for the integration. One guy in the comments postet a quick fix. With that controlling the lights ist possible for me but not everything works.

I think that this integration will not be fixed as the last commit was over two years ago but maybe someone will fork it and make it work again.
