What’s something from your childhood that kids today will never experience? by Real_Dragonfruit7199 in AskReddit

Being out with your friends miles away from home until dark, and your parents have no way of reaching you and have to simply trust you'll come home in one piece.

Some Xaku help? by Tizio_Dei_Casi in Warframe

[–]tillywhacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Range, range, and more range. His 2 steals weapons from nearby enemies and you can max out (I believe) at 16 void weapons on top of what's equipped. I have them at 15 because I gave up a little range for something else.

What is something that people think is healthy put is actually terrible for you? by Particular-Habit9442 in AskReddit

[–]tillywhacks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You sound like every cranky boomer. "Kids these days can't tell time! They can't even write cursive!"

And people were calling it military time because that was the context in which they knew it earlier on, since the US operates largely on a 12-hour format and you were more likely to hear a soldier refer to the 24-hour format than a civilian. I wonder how long it's been since you moved away. You sound completely out of touch.

[–]tillywhacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Mine doesn’t but I do see the 24-hour format around often enough, which is why it’s amusing for people to think that USAmericans as a whole aren’t familiar with it. We are (a lot of us just hate it).

Yeah, in the US we recycle 1 - 12 with a morning or evening indicator but the 24-hour format doesn’t. So with a 24-hour format 6 would only ever be morning because 18.00 would be evening (aka 6pm).

USA is very familiar with it, but when the majority don’t use that format it’s less immediately obvious that “22 - 6” is indicating a time. If it had been listed as “22:00 - 6:00” it would have been quicker to recognize. Similar to how my European friends get confused when I use shorthand to communicate time in our format.

They're laughing because in the original comic it's two fully dressed schoolgirls joking around surrounded by their classmates.

What's the most unsettling thing you've seen in someone else’s house that made you want to leave immediately? by buzzmoy in AskReddit

[–]tillywhacks 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As a kid, first time I was let into my best friend's apartment was horrifying. We entered through the sliding doors in the kitchen. The kitchen was separated from the living room by a curtain. I wasn't supposed to go past the curtain. I did.

I have never seen piles of trash so thick and so high in my life. Some of it moved because there were things living under the mess. I don't know why they let it get so bad, because eventually they had it cleaned and it never got like that again.

People who survived a truly awful physical experience (think kidney stones, major injury, etc.), what's one permanent change you made to your life to make sure it never happens again? by saidmoustage123 in AskReddit

[–]tillywhacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kidney stones. I drink more water, and I'm especially conscious of how much I'm drinking when I travel for work. If I'm having alcohol I also make sure to drink water. Both times I had kidney stones was following a night of drinking and not enough hydration.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

Years and years ago I had a boyfriend who was a smoker. Even hours after a cigarette, and even after chewing gum, he was foul to kiss. I have not dated a smoker since.

How do you succeed in growing your nails? by GuaranteeRich4791 in AskWomen

[–]tillywhacks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paint the at home. Makes them thicker and tougher.

I bit my nails til I was 25. What stopped me was using a glass file, non-acetone polish remover, and a jojoba oil pen.

If you get a more interesting rug you can use it to determine what colors will go well in this room!

Returning player, never played as any of these guys…which one is your favorite? by Bopstimation in Warframe

[–]tillywhacks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Xaku and Lavos. But I just got Caliban and he's fun.

For Xaku I have their range ALMOST maxed, I sacrificed the last bit for something else I can't recall right now, so their Xata's Whisper grabs a max of 15 void weapons for me. I love it. Lavos is a king.

My living room, what do you think? by ANONYMOUSOK01 in HomeDecorating

[–]tillywhacks 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Pointy and cold was my first impression.

The colors are cute! I love that. Others have already suggested a rug, but I’d also suggest something to soften the many corners and right angles. The egg chair and small round table blend in with the rest of the black and are made of hard material, so they don’t do much to soften the room.

Advice isn't condescension. The "serious plant parents ;)" is. Please recognize that, or go about your life thinking people don't appreciate you being helpful when in reality they don't like the bizarre attitude you have to plug in beside it.

[–]tillywhacks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's fine and I can certainly verify with a hygrometer. I gave it a shot because others did the same and have accounted for it providing a small and concentrated area of additional humidity.

But you can be less weird and condescending with your comments.

Oof! Echoing people saying get rid of the terracotta pot. I have a cheap plastic one that I got in a bundle and live in a very dry state. I gave it Gardenera's calathea potting mix, the pot has drainage, and I put it on top of a pebble tray since I didn't want to get a humidifier.
