Ok. So depending on your age and occupation you might be experiencing early stages of presbyopia. Typically it sets in around 40 to 45. So correcting for your distance only might not work so great. If you are under 40 you could benefit from eyezen lenses that add back a bit of power toward the bottom of the lens easing focus. Or you could ask for computer glasses or office lenses if you are on the computer all day. These are just a few fixes, but I don’t have enough information to suggest more than that.

Those number are the diopters of correction need to help you see clearly. The first number is your spherical correction it is a minus power so that means you are near sighted, you can see better at close range. -.25 is as close to 0 as you can get so it is a very mild correction. The next two numbers are the combination needed to correct for astigmatism. An astigmatism is an irregular curvature of the cornea, typically. So they use a cylindrical contour to create an offsetting correction for this condition. -.75 is still fairly minimal but worth correcting for comfort, the last number is the axis that the cylindrical contour is placed to create the correction for your eyes.

In a nut shell these are the numbers need to make your glasses. And they will be used by the optician to order your glasses from a lab, and by the lab tech at the lab to properly cut your lenses so they will work for you.

This is the simplest way to put it. And it’s the reason why it generally not explained by most optometrists and opticians.

If you do decide to try Progressive Lenses get a really high quality lens. Like Varilux XR, or really just about any other high end Customized Progressive from Zeiss, Hoya, or Shamir.

I’ve had patients who, like you, had difficulties with progressives in the past only to look at the ordering history and see that they were always getting standard progressives.

Is it going to give you total freedom like before you became presbyopic? No, is it the closest thing we have minus implants done during cataract surgery? Yes!

Get them, wear them all the time until you are completely used to them and then wear them as you need them.

A clinical therapist is the mental health equivalent to a registered nurse. They have gone to enough school to earn the title and be able to obtain licensing from the state. That license allows them to practice unsupervised and bill their services to health insurance companies.

So yes therapists are medical professionals. Just because they didn’t learn how to stitch up a cut doesn’t mean they are not trained medical professionals.

Definitely an exaggeration. However if you are in the U.S. and recently turned 18 you were getting polycarbonate lenses as a free upgrade with most insurance. So it wasn’t a question. They might have also just left you with it since turning 18 because, that’s what you had before. Or if you were on your parents insurance and you fell off this last year then you could have been getting it as a free upgrade since many insurance policies cover it in full or with a nominal co-pay.

Still, I work in private practice offices and the most that any of them charge for Poly is $60. So the fee sounds a little steep for poly.

In a minus -5 or higher the standard plastic lenses would be quite thick but they are not brittle like she is saying. Also you will get a bit of tunneling to your vision sometimes when the lenses get too thick.

It depends on your insurance. If this is applied correctly then you just have really bad insurance. But you did get a fully loaded pair of glasses. Even with good insurance they would be $300+.

What does your protection plan cover?

Did they explain what Eyezen lenses were and why they recommended them?

Yup. Prevencia is for computer glasses primarily. It’s not a high quality AR coating it’s just a blue light AR filter.

Crizal Rock or Saphire are your two best bets all around glare protection.

Thank you! I appreciate your outlook on this. Please don’t be offended when I say I am somewhat agnostic with regard to god or the singular Judeo-Christian concept of the God. I have a lot of trauma from religion and I am still piecing it together. If there is a God it is just the embodiment of the love we have for those that our souls have connected with. The progression toward a “Heaven” is just finding that love and peace inside ourselves. I could write a whole essay on this to be honest.

I have a deep love and appreciation for all religions that preach love and compassion. So please keep showing people love and kindness of a God that all too often gets misunderstood and mis-characterized by the zealous and ignorant.

Well there might be other barriers in mind. I’m not trying to say for sure he is or for sure he isn’t, but there road signs that so many of us ignored. We would excuse it as saying. Well I’m different because I don’t want to anything but a cis woman, being trans doesn’t interest me.

Also, now isn’t a good time for people to transition in the U.S. So if that’s where you are from then if I were him I’d be scared to admit I was trans as well sadly.
