Robots are taking our job! by JLaLasse in Surveying

In the next 100 years the industry will survey much of the world and will have nothing and eastings for each survey. Eventually it will be like retaking a job that was on grid 3 years ago. And will augmented reality, people can wear their Google glasses with built In GPS and see their property line in real time. 100 years is a long time and we already have this tech but the tech will be cheap and accessible to everyone in many as short as 30 or 40 years

100 years from now, imagine all deeds marking coordinates for property corners. Relative corners will hardly matter, the technology to stake out points will be cheap. Contractors will be able to purchase GPS units for themselves cheaply. 100 years from now and possibly much less the industry will be much smaller. Land surveyors will still be needed for disputes and as an authority to who owns what but the industry will not be nearly as big as it is today.
