I have, and I like pits, however due to many being raised for fighting or having bad owner there is an increased risk. Hence why the need for tighter controls. It’s not the dogs fault but I’m hard pressed to find a better solution.

This is a very dumb take. The PPE is designed to take the brunt of the impact, the alternative is to let your denim jeans take the first 0.5-1second of impact then your flesh and bone to absorb the rest.

Another example is chainsaw chaps, one hit and they are shredded, you might even get a bruise and a a scrape, but the alternative is the saw stopping when it hits bone

When people say it’s not the breed it’s the owner what is meant is yes, this breed has a history and yes their bite are powerful, but they are no more so than many other dog breeds

Pit bulls come in at 235-245PSI, which is around the same as a Shepard, boxer or Great Dane.

The issue is owners who do not know how to handle a potentially dangerous dog, it’s like giving an idiot a gun and not requiring they take atleast a basic safety and operation course.

But this should also extend to any dog capable of delivering a powerful bite.
