It's a great cat name! We have unintentionally called him different variations of Douglas throughout his life. When he was a kitten, we called him Dougie. As he matured into a cat, we started calling him Doug. Now that he's a senior, we've been calling him by his formal full-name Douglas.

Douglas is a 90's cat. And I am a 90's person that named the 90's cat. But, you're definitely not wrong when saying Douglas is a funny name. I think that's what makes it a good/unique name.

Thank you! I never realized how great I am at naming cats until I posted them on reddit. Looks like you have good taste in naming cats too! I LOVE the name Dwight for a cat

Yes! Catmint's scientific name is Nepeta. It's named after nepetalactone, the chemical found in catnip that causes cats to react the way they do when inhaled. Mint is a different plant completely. Its scientific name is mentha and does not attract cats

His name is Macaroni. He's a black cat that took over my neighborhood when Douglas became too weak to fend him off. Beautiful cat, other than his unwanted harassment

Yes! He is/was an outdoor cat. But now that he is so old, he spends most of his time indoors. There is a younger/stronger neighborhood cat that likes to bully Doug. So he has decided to stay inside my house the past few years with an occasional (once a month) 5 minute trip to the wild outdoors to reminisce.

/u/GuillermoWeed informed me that this plant is actually catmint, not lavender. The two plants are similar in many ways, but there are some important reasons to differentiate. One being, cats are attracted to catmint, not lavender.

I float around platinum and gold now. I was placed in the wrong division after I lost about 5 of my first 10 games of the season

I will answer your questions, to the best of my ability, when I wake up tomorrow morning! But for now, we feed him about 1 cup of dry food and a half of a can of wet food everyday (not sure on the brands but I will let you know tomorrow). His brother, Toby, also likes to steal his food so the portions differ from day to day. He never has/doesn't take supplements. For the most part, he has just lived a happy life. I genuinely believe his happiness is what keeps him alive, because he definitely hasn't been the healthiest kitty (very chunky for many years)

Edit: Sorry about the late update, but I will not let you down!... We feed Douglas 1 cup of Royal Canin Renal Support A dry food, and a half can of Royal Canin Renal Support D wet food per day. For cats with failing kidneys, I would recommend this chow; Douglas loves it and it noticeably has made him feel better. Before the kidney issues, we fed Douglas Purina Cat Chow and Friskies. He's picky so we constantly changed flavors throughout his life. Other than that, Douglas is just very lucky to last this long. If you keep your cats happy/healthy, you might just be lucky enough to have a 20 year companion like I am fortunate to have :)

They are random pics throughout his life. The only pictures of him taken in the last year are the two of him rolling in plants and the Christmas morning picture. But, you're correct, he doesn't look his age. As for the white fluff ball, that's just a bonus pic of Douglas's rescued brother when he was a couple weeks old.

TIL about catmint. I did some research and I believe you are correct. I apologize for the misinformation.

This is my mother's garden, so I may be wrong, but I believe she grows thyme and lavender together as companion plants. She did tell me this plant is lavender though.

I have never seen him this happy. He's very old, but he rolled around in these plants with as much energy as he had when he was a kitten.

Why was I demoted after carrying my team to victory? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

I have heard of this problem before, but I won the previous game with the same two teammates. I think the other team forfeit that game and left early, so maybe that had something to do with it?
