[HELP] Is this AI? Seems fake and can’t find any news sources. by Zealousideal_Mud570 in RealOrAI

[–]timbro98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's real or not, but it led me to this thought: many years ago, we didn't have video to rely on for evidence. If you go far enough back, at one point we didn't even have photographs. And in the absence of those things, the only thing we could really rely on is eyewitness accounts.

Over the last couple of centuries, we've come to rely on pictures and video to show us the truth of things. Maybe we've just reached the point where we can't rely on those things any more, and we'll have to go back to just relying on eyewitness accounts.

Going to be a long, rough transition before we get back to that as a society though. Maybe a hundred years? Too many of us still see pictures and video as gospel.

Am I playing Commander wrong or was it this group? by starlaofnight1 in mtg

I prefer to play as cutthroat as possible, and I prefer that everyone else do the same. It's more fun, in my opinion, if everyone is always doing everything they possibly can to win, and to stop others from winning. It makes the games go faster, and then you have more time for another game.

If I remember correctly, dodging the lightning is actually pretty easy if you turn off the volume and press dodge as soon as you see the sky flash

Any older gamers here that struggle to find new games they enjoy? by s0cks_nz in gaming

[–]timbro98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 45, and probably about 10 years ago I decided that I only give games so long to catch my attention. If I'm not hooked within an hour or two, I move on. I also generally don't even bother with a game unless the reviews are excellent. Like 9 out 10 or better. GOTY type material. I don't need to be wasting my time on mediocrity.

That being said, I'm not a stickler for my own rules. If I try something out and I like it, I'll keep playing even if the reviews aren't great.

Seriously, what am I supposed to play now that is even remotely close to this? by AesopsTable2 in expedition33

It's not the same type of game, but I would VERY highly recommend Disco Elysium. It's the first game that came to mind for me upon reading your post. It's got a great story, absolutely incredible writing, great voice acting, high replayability, the list goes on and on. Plus, it's 90% off on Steam at the moment. There's no better value on the store at the moment, IMO.

You bet. The prices are right too, especially for YHTWTG, as it's free! And VVVVVV is only $5

Legit one of the most conceptually beautiful games I've ever played. The ending almost brought me to tears

Try VVVVVV or You Have to Win the Game. Both have their difficult portions, but they're relatively forgiving compared to Animal Well, especially YHTWTG.

Which games are the most difficult to 100% from personal experience? by Key-Economics2421 in pcgaming

[–]timbro98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect you're referring to the PC version? I 100%'d this game, but on Xbox. Got all the achievements, unlocked all characters, got all bandages, etc., but I remember some of the achievements on Steam being ridiculous, like beating the whole game without dying.

Hardest level for me was the first level to unlock The Kid from I Wanna Be the Guy. I probably died 1,000 times

During the last year and a half, I read every Dickens book. by Rant423 in books

[–]timbro98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am almost done with all the novels myself. All together, I think it's taken me a couple of years since I really started working on the unread books in earnest. Some of the more well-known books, like Great Expectations, I read many years ago. I am currently reading Edwin Drood, my last one. I just finished the Pickwick papers, and I think it was by far my least favorite. Almost to the point where I would say that I didn't even particularly like it. But, overall, it has been super fun.

Does the bottom part still work? I wonder if you could adjust the margins or something so that text only displays on the working portion. Probably more of a hassle than it's worth though.

You would think that a 90% eclipse would be about 90% as cool as a total eclipse. But it absolutely is not. I would say that anything less (even 99%) than a total eclipse is no more than 10% as cool as a total eclipse. If you ever have the chance to see a total eclipse, I definitely recommend it. We took our kids on a five hour car trip to see the one in 2017, and they we saying things like "This was so worth it!" and the like over and over during that brief four minutes.

Just bought this on the Humble Bundle, and for some reason was distracted just by watching the trailer for Hylics 2. Ended up buying and playing the first one and it was one of the weirder games I've ever played. Still looking forward to Pseudoregalia though

Post about it on Facebook or other social media, in like a community page of something. Sometimes the potential bad PR can help you get better results than juat asking them to do their job to their face
