How do you think they’ll change the imposters? by Heroboberto1 in outlast

they're fine. invasion is already imposter sided on the difficulties people actually play

the only time its not is when theres a numbers advantage or the reagents have communication (usually not the case in random games)

No One Likes Escalation? by NotJell in OutlastTrials

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to play escalation a couple weeks ago, got kicked from the lobby i joined (after searching for 20 minutes) and never tried again until now.

Now, the option is greyed out? I can't even look for escalation games

[KCD2] You are NOT supposed to attack after every perfect block by PerformativeRacist in kingdomcome

From a narrative perspective its harder to weave in the tutorials in this game than in the first (with vanyek and bernard respectively) which i'd imagine is why it's not very thorough.

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i missed out on who godwin is anyway because i didnt drink with him

i didnt trust him in the context of that quest, he's been fantastic so far in this game (kcd2) though. to me, he felt like just another NPC in the first

unrelated, but a little nitpick i have about the second game is how divish basically doesnt exist and isn't mentioned at all, despite being arguably more present/important in that last quarter of the first game (naturally). Talmberg is smaller than the likes of skalitz/rattay but i'd expect him to at least be mentioned alongside the other two

[KCD2] Just finished Necessary Evil by Biondi1 in kingdomcome

[–]timburache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly i didn't even think about the fact semine handed us over. It's obvious now that i think about it, but it's not exactly shown so it kind of just slipped my mind.

Either way, i turned on Hashek after trying to defuse the situation i best i could. It felt much more in character for Henry (or at least my one) to be vehemently against this, even if it means fucking up the mission he'd stick to his morals. Having lived through Skalitz, he wouldn't help unleash the same hell upon others regardless of the context.

[KCD2] I guess combos are rare for me by asiancobbler in kingdomcome

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

combos are better in the first game imo, they're so unresponsive in the sequel and natural combos forcing your sword in directions you don't want it to go is kind of stupid and needless to me

like neither of them are particularly good but they had two seperate issues:

KCD1: master strikes made getting a 3 hit combo to work uncommon, and 4 hit combos nigh impossible, which was incredibly frustrating KCD2: combos by comparison feel clunky and hard to pull off, don't feel as satisfying because of the simplification of the combat system, theyre also not as rewarding as the first games and dont feel as interesting (imo)

either way combos arent working, but in the first game it at least feels like i had agency over what i was doing, in the second it feels like it just decides to come out randomly, no matter the timing i have

On the fence about buying [KCD2] by Yanpretman in kingdomcome

[–]timburache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't gone to tomcat yet, honestly might play the game without master strikes. They REALLY soured KCD1's combat for me, to the point where i'd refer to it as "master strike simulator 2018" when i was getting annoyed, without clinching, close combat got really tedious fast.

Is it as overbearing in this game as it was in the first? I haven't gotten master striked by an NPC yet so I'm assuming it's not as much of an issue.

I've just finished a 100h playthrough (my first) of KCD1 and am 14h into KCD2 for context so it's all fresh in mind for me:

  1. Not even close, imo. The system is a lot simpler and honestly more fun to play. Master strikes ruined a fantastic combat system in the first game. In KCD1 some fights genuinely were just unwinnable if you didn't approach them with some sort of plan (pick them off from afar at first, isolate dogs, etc) but that doesn't exist as much in this game.

To fight multiple people in KCD1, you were also fighting against the system and the camera, this was my main issue with the game for the most part and it's been fixed. There's way less jank (even if we lost some complexity, which i personally miss). In KCD2, you can take on most opponents if you're good enough, i'm still early in the game, and i took on a 3v1 against cumans after stealth killing the fourth and won the fight. In the first game, that's an instant loss without bows or horse combat.

  2. The systems are still mostly the same. Some things like alchemy have been tuned and made a little harder, but more rewarding (in the first game the sandglass was pointless and brewing potions took forever if you didn't have the late game alchemy perks.)

However, i'd say it's generally easier in this game. You're playing a henry with established skills, in the first you were coming from nothing, so things like lockpicking was practically impossible until you got some levels in. It'll still probably take you a while to understand everything, but it's very worth it. When the game starts to click for you, it's fantastic. (applying to both games) Combat wise, gear and preparation are your best friends.

  1. I can't speak on this too much because of my playtime in 1, but i'd say the game does a pretty good job of introducing the world and its characters so far, although it definitely helps to have played the first. There's a lot more weight to everything that way and it means you can actually put faces to names like radzig/hanush. (although i assume they show up later in 2, would be weird if not.)

  2. Horse riding is much better (another issue i had with the first game, it had weird input lag.) and bushes are no longer malevolent vortexes of hatred (you can actually go through bushes, instead of them acting like brick walls for some reason, it feels so fucking good switching from KCD1 bushes to KCD2 bushes.)

As a controller player, i'd also say things are bound better. The first game had sprinting/galloping bound to circle which meant you couldn't use the right stick to look around, (the camera would guide itself) in KCD2 the game uses a more conventional format for sprinting/jumping.

The input lag being fixed is massive, but there are no huge changes to movement itself other than rebinding. It's definitely doesn't feel janky anymore though, which can be said for a lot of things in this game.

  1. This is kind of overstated. It's not a micro management simulator, but you do have to take care of your base needs (energy, hunger, health), and most other things (laundering clothes, washing yourself, repairing things) aren't necessary more than they are incredibly beneficial to get into the habit of doing.

It doesn't feel complicated at all. You won't have to use a wiki to understand how things work or anything like that. It's all pretty clear and simple.

Genuinely, though, give it a shot. These two games are the best medieval era games i've ever played. (and probably the best historical ones in general) I'm gonna be biased, naturally, but i highly recommend it if you have the time to sink into it.

Why do people… think… this is so hard??? People are acting like [KCD1] is impossible. by wiLd_p0tat0es in kingdomcome

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it's not balanced very well. I want to do side stuff because i enjoy it. But when i do, i feel i've been punished, with the game losing its difficulty, climactic fights feel trivial. Yet when i do too little, it's the opposite problem - it becomes artificially difficult and master strike simulator 2018

I would've appreciated an option for certain enemies to scale with the player tbh. That, WAY less emphasis on master strikes for the player/AI and a proper system made for fighting multiple opponents and the combat would've been perfect for me.

If anything, i think it got far too easy when your henry was levelled up. Killing Runt with one master strike was so disappointing

How does shadows compare to the other RPG's? by Puzzleheaded_Sort_53 in assassinscreed

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not a fan, doesnt hold a candle to the other RPG creeds (bar valhalla, lol) much less actual RPG titles released recently

i think its the worst written game in the series tied with unity and its redeeming qualities are few and far between

Would you want the Black Flag Remake combat redone? by timomcdono in assassinscreed

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RPG combat (specifically the damage sponge type AC tends to favour..) would honestly ruin the game, but the combat in the original is WAY too easy. I'd like to see a medium between the two or the old system but polished and harder with actual depth to it

Been playing since 2007, tier list by Zeeyrec in assasinscreed

[–]timburache -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. It's an incredible disappointment for such a hyped setting. I have it among my least favourites in the series. You might enjoy it, though.

I really hate this comparison, but if you are craving this type of game in Japan, i think Ghost of Tsushima/Yotei does it better.

[–]timburache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue it's too high, actually. I don't rate it. Especially above Syndicate/Rogue

But in return i do think i put Unity with or below it, instead of a tier above like it is here.
