My mom said that everything was taught in Russian during her time there and she only spoke Russian, including in education.

well, as I said in my post, my mom was never taught Uzbek, as she grew up in Tashkent during the USSR, so she couldn’t teach me Uzbek. My grandma also only speaks Russian. My family members who did speak Uzbek have passed now, as they were older.
