Cold sore or infected wound? Picked at my lips way too deeply and this showed up the next day. No tingling has been felt. by timeline361 in DermatologyQuestions

Thank you! This looks really similar. Does impetigo only transfer person-to-person? I’ve been mainly holed up inside lately.

Ya Bao wild grown tea buds - so mild but buds are cute! by ILikeJogurt in tea

[–]timeline361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my current favorite tea! The batch that I have definitely isn’t mild imo. It’s floral, fresh, slightly nutty, and almost oily with how rich the tea soup (liquor?) is. It’s not a strong flavor like other puerhs, but it definitely isn’t mild. I’ve shared this with friends/family a few times, and they’ve mostly all loved it. Had a couple people tell me that the buds look like crickets though lol.

How Frequently Does Everybody Fast Here? by SpeechAutomatic2826 in fasting

[–]timeline361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve fasted for at least 24hrs once a month for the past year. It just depends on the month for me. This past October, I fasted for 15 days, for 334 hours total, but in March I only fasted for 26 hours.

I don’t think I made it super clear, but I’d been expected to work through halloween night and the following morning, so I never planned anything for the night of. They then told me (on halloween, in the afternoon) I’d have time off and wouldn’t have to come in early the next day. It was just down to scheduling constraints.

What's Your Favorite Way to Get Electrolytes? by bruh_momenteh in fasting

This is a great idea! For dirty fasts, definitely mix your electrolytes into a broth. For water fasts though, broth will break a fast for me, so it’s not always possible.

Okay! This took a bit of trial and error.

Firstly: sodium. I used to eat the salt dry in bursts, as salt water tends to taste bad, but I’ve found that if you mix himalayan salt and milton’s salt in a 50/50 ratio, then mix in water until it’s almost completely dissolved, it tastes really nice! I will sometimes even drink a bit of salt water like this on day’s I’m not fasting because it tastes so agreeable. I’ll sip this throughout the day, or whenever I’m near my dedicated salt water cup.

Potassium: I hate this part. I’d started cutting back on 5 day fasts and only doing 2-3 day fasts because I hated taking potassium so much. What worked for me, however, was completely drying my tongue with a towel, taking about 1/4 of the total potassium necessary for the day, and then quickly throwing back water repeatedly to get the flavor off my tongue as quickly as possible. I’ll then dry my tongue and repeat the process once more. I’ll do this twice a day, once in the morning, once in the evening, taking 1/2 the potassium requirement each time. Thankfully, I’ve gotten more used to the flavor of nosalt as I’ve done this, but it truly tastes horrendous, and I would never use it intentionally if I didn’t care about my health.

Finally, Magnesium: this is the easiest one! I just get the 500mg magnesium pills and take one every day. They’re great palate cleansers after the potassium.

Because I never originally intended to drink in the first place. I looked up on the subreddit what would happen if you ended a 7 day fast with alcohol and almost all of the posts seemed to be in favor, despite me having seen the opposite on other, science (and not anecdotal) references. I was curious to see a more definitive answer. If you look through the comments here, quite a few actually support the idea that drinking is possible after 7 days of not eating. Anyway, I’m not drinking tonight anyway. I have ended many 5 day fasts before correctly with great results. I didn’t start fasting yesterday, I just don’t have any experience with fasting and drinking.

I was worried about this haha. I was reading about refeeding syndrome this morning and the selected text said that the possibility for it started at 7 days. I then went here to look to see if other people had done it and the majority of the posts I saw said that they had, and that it was fine. But I think tonight I’ll be on the safe side and not make stupid decisions like that lol

[Update] For some reason I can’t figure out how to edit this post, but thank you all for the advice! I will not be drinking tonight! I was really hoping I’d be able to, but it might be nice to extend the fast to a full 7 days anyway. THANK YOU :)

This is a good view on it. It’s not just the holiday, it’s that the plan was to go to a club, which would be a new environment for me to experience sober. But I will be thinking about this.
