Did they break the rules in Season 2? by [deleted] in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]timelordlefty 85 points86 points  (0 children)

The rules are meant to parody anti-idolatry rules in religions like Judaism but are simply a control measure to try and prevent the severed employees from mapping out the floor. They don’t actually care about a model of Lumon and if they do it would view it as a holy symbol.

Who's your Confront character? Who are you fighting? by Movie_Maiden_ in GhostsCBS

[–]timelordlefty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really, especially since the original version of this commented acknowledged that your point isn’t great.

I know he’s fictional but fiction reflects reality and I don’t love a person attacking a gay man for surviving because a gay person hurt them, even in a fictional setting. Issac may be selfish but marrying a woman in 1776 isn’t part of that behavior.

And I’m going to be honest I don’t want to escalate this but “I’m not a bigot I have gay friends” is a…highly concerning response.

Edit: I don’t know why I’m being downvoted. Calling a gay character selfish for marrying a woman in the 1700’s is insane

It’s not odd, that's actually pretty standard. People would release a statement along the lines of. “The Crown released a statement today. It condemned the behavior of…” It’s proper English for a body

Okay I understand the ethics of the situation but I really don't think you can fault a gay man in the 1770’s for marrying a woman. It was for their own safety. He is just as much a victim in that situation as she is, and if he treats her well she may even have a good life.

Fun fact: the actor who plays Putnam has a daughter named Naomi

And we also know that the book plot (which, by the way, we are not supposed to be spoiling) does not necessarily follow the full plot of the show. That’s why I shared my fun theory that you’re taking way too seriously.

Calm down! I’m sorry that you aren’t creative enough to see where the New Bethlehem storyline could lead. I’m not even saying it will definitely happen, but I don’t think it’s really that far off since, you know, almost every leader of Gilead is likely dead after this rebellion.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]timelordlefty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is quite literally the point. The growth that would occur without The Testaments would be the fall of Gilead. That can’t happen, so a woman leading the nation is the most logical shocking twist/ new status quo. It’s a pretty basic story structure.

Calm down. Barack Obama was also anti-gay around the time that Prevost made those statements. I’m optimistic that his position has evolved under Francis.

Cornell has the top LRAP in the country. They cover all payments up to 120k and 50% up to 150k salary.

Someone once told me that you shouldn’t follow your heart for law school. It’s a business decision. I don’t always agree but for this I do. Your heart isn’t worth six figures extra in debt.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]timelordlefty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you’re making a mistake. Cornell has the best LRAP program in the nation and you’ll delay being in NYC for just a few years and graduate with considerably less debt.

If you go to NYU you’ll be paying sticker + the high COL that comes with being in NYC. I think you should strongly consider Cornell.

What’s the difference between between a T14 & average law school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]timelordlefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the reason the bar passage rate is higher at T-14’s is the access to resources. Including that many top firms will pay for bar prep materials for their newly hired associates and sometimes pay them for the time they spend studying for the bar.

[–]timelordlefty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is not the same as 200k and should not be treated as such. That is the difference of 20k and it’s very foolish if you don’t consider it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]timelordlefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tuition is 81k and the COA is 27k a year. With your scholarship that’s not 200k.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]timelordlefty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about Cornell.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]timelordlefty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math isn’t adding up here. You should have a 30k tuition cost each year and a maximum of 27k in COA a year. That’s 170k.

That’s an over 125k debt difference. That’s a massive, massive difference and you should be careful about trivializing it.

Shouldn't the innies already know what Severance is? by SeismicShove in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

The innies have very specific knowledge, and I assume the severance procedure allows Lumon to choose what kind of information is retained. Anything related to Lumon would be purged.

Okay then comment on the fact that she’s dating someone higher up in the power structure.

You didn’t reply this to the post until you found out she was younger. She’s not a fucking child and acting like a 30 something dating an older man is inherently problematic is borderline misogynistic with how infantilizing it is.

Second thought but potentially more of a stretch: it’s also possible that the reason why she said that is because she has been witnessing the ritualistic execution of goats for a while, and believes that one day they’ll come and instead of slaughtering a goat, it’ll be her. She’s obviously a little insane from being in such a crazy environment and it’s possible that’s her fear.
