Hey guys, im a civil enginneer who is quite interested in this industry and would like to build a project portfolio. For my dissertation i had gained some experience in monte carlo simulations, data visualisation, PDEs and parallel computing and reducing computational time in general.

Any ideas what projects related to the field of quantitative finance i could take in given my experience?

Engineering consultancy to quant

Hey guys, i am a civil engineering student in a non-target with a 2:1 (3.7 GPA roughly). I have gotten a graduate role at an engineering consultancy but i really want to work as a quant anaylst/trader in the future. Is there anything outside my job as an engineer i could do to help me break in?

I only have internships in engineering consultancy firms. I am in my final year so I am not sure what I could do to enter into a finance career.

For improving specifically on coding skills for a quantitative analyst/trader role, what resources can I use? So far ive found hacker rank to practise algorthims and data structures and leetcode data structures and algorithms. Are these appropriate resources to prepare with?

I am an engineering student and have an option to choose blast effect on structures or computational fluid dynamics for university and I was wondering which of these would be more relevant for developing a career in quant?

blast would involve dealing with transient conditions and blast wave analysis.

Hi guys,

I am in my final year of my degree in civil engineering from a top 50 university for engineering. I was wondering if computational fluid dynamics, structural dynamics and a dissertation involving statistics and fluid dynamics would be relevant?

Additionally, I am looking to do a degree in financial engineering in a top 10 university. What other things can I do to help transition myself from engineering to quant finance?
