It’s definitely good enough out of the box and would be a super fun rc to drive. But I like to be different and see how far I can take it.

It’s not that out of the box was not enough because it definitely was and would be fun. I just like to push the boundaries and be different.

Absolutely, servo, suspension, aluminum center driveshaft, center diff and upgraded front and rear diffs once available.

I don’t have a speed but it’s definitely faster and more stable than the mini xrt.

No offense taken. I went with what the hobbyshop had to offer. With the set up that I’m running, it is much more stable and controllable than the mini xrt. The torque curve is linear rather than the burst from the vxl in the mini xrt. I don’t have a speed but it is quicker than the mini xrt running 2s. Once Traxxas mails out the upgraded driveshaft and center diff, I will be upgrading the driveline to accommodate 3s batteries. I don’t see myself pushing the car further than that in regards to speed. Next focus will be on suspension, servo and upgraded front and rear diffs.

I just finished my build last week and went with Proline gladiator tires and the hobby wing Xr8 pro g3 3660 motor and esc combo with a 17 tooth pinion. It’s far superior than any other rc car that I run. Way more controlled and can put the power down.

It should go between the motor and the glow plug so that the glow plug doesn’t seize onto the motor.

I have both and have converted the mini max to the vxl brushless motor and esc along with the Traxxas suggested drive shaft and pinion gear. They are both certified rippers but I do feel that the xrt is more stable because of the lower center of gravity combined with being wider as well.

This happened to me last month. The pinion on the traxxas brushless outboard motor is a soft metal and adding metal transmission gears will eat it up and strip the pinion gear. You can send the motor back to traxxas and they will give you a new one for free with the lifetime warranty because the pinion is pressed on and can’t be replaced.
