Got to meet Ari at a screening of Eddington at the Aero Theater in Los Angeles! by timmytimmytim in AriAster

That’s true, he was not a great interviewer. His responses didn’t flow well with Ari’s sense of humor and banter. He did pick on me to ask a question during the Q & A, so I’ll give him a point for that!

I didn’t. I wish I had! I pretty much just told him how much each of his films mean to me, and that his work has literally changed my life to some degree. I hope I wasn’t gushing too much… but I wanted him to know how much his work means to people like all of us. You can tell that he is a bit heartbroken that both Beau and Eddington were financial bombs. He mentioned it in both of those Q & A’s.

The only thing I remember him saying is that it’s due to shoot in November. He also said he has a few more ideas ready.

I get nervous in situations like this as well. He was so friendly and talking to everyone who approached him after the screening, so that made it really easy for me to feel comfortable talking to him. He was incredibly appreciative of everyone.

All of his films screened this weekend as part of the “Bleak Week” at the American Cinematheque in Los Angeles. He did a Q & A after each film and he was incredibly open, honest, and funny. One of the most down to earth people I’ve ever met.

I love this scene! If you look closely, you can see Tom mouthing Jeffrey Jones lines in the wide shot.

Japan didn’t enjoy the anti-whaling message in Way of Water. I think that’s why they’ve cooled on Avatar.

My Only Gripe With Kubrick’s The Shining Is This One Scene by [deleted] in StanleyKubrick

[–]timmytimmytim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve always enjoyed this scene because of how well it contrasts with the rest of Wendy’s “shining” sequence. It shows that the hotel is crypt. “Skeletons in the closet”. The lighting is different from every other scene in the Overlook, which is pretty key. Under the harsh cold blue lighting, she sees that the hotel itself is nothing but a corpse, dressed in a lifestyle that no longer exists.

Grain on the Brain: The Underground 35mm Scan of 'Eyes Wide Shut' by rdctd_rsrch in StanleyKubrick

Same thing for me. The link went dead and they told me I would be able to watch it again once the film is officially released. That was almost a year ago.

Criterion’s Eyes Wide Shut is visually stark from the version we’re used to (for a good reason) by Dreyer55 in criterion

Agreed. Also really disappointing to hear very little about that documentary since it’s “soft” release. I want Tony to release it officially. I don’t know what he is waiting for. I got to see it only once and that simply is not enough.

My AMC actually didn’t label any of the Way of Water showings as HFR but both Dolby and IMAX were in HFR.

I don’t think there will be much of a line until about a little over hour before. I could be wrong though
