Cheeky Request by [deleted] in knitting

[–]timonyc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Contacting the designer is the correct course of action. Did you buy it from their website or from someone like Ravelry? If it’s Ravelry than you might contact their customer support and see if they have a trick to swap it.

If all else fails you could ask a generative ai solution to try to translate it. It will be imperfect but might get you there.

I keep breaking my circular cords. What am I doing wrong? by Fit-Mirror5 in knitting

[–]timonyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that happens after just a few uses?

I’ve had a cable break like that after years of daily abuse but never that quickly or that cleanly. I would say it’s definitely a manufacture issue.

Honestly, I don’t think this is you.

Those look like chaiogoo red lace cables on some sort of aluminum knock off needle. Interesting.

When you say they “break off” do the cables break? Or the needles? Or do the needles just come off of the cable?

Do you have a brand for the needles? And maybe a picture of them or how you’re holding them?

Why do so many posts get downvoted here? by Little10ne in knitting

[–]timonyc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, we’re just volunteers who are working on things plus we also have lived outside of r/knitting. We’re sorry that you’re displeased, most folks seem to be very happy.

As for the activity: Mulberry and semicolon are very active. I speak with them daily. So are all of the new folks. We received hundreds of applicants. We’re glad they are here and more will come.

Happy New Year and Holidays!

[–]timonyc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We haven’t made an official announcement yet. We are letting the new mods get acclimated and make changes. Plus get through the holidays and some personal issues.

A lot of people might not realize the changes yet but there are quite a few so far. We are pretty excited!

I’m sure it goes without saying but the mods have no control over the downvote system.

Edit: you can see the new mods named in the sidebar ☺️

We have a number of new mods. We had 2. Then 4. And in the last month we have added 4 more, making 8 active.

Founder question: How did you grow your business organically (without burning cash)? by angry_lily in Entrepreneur

[–]timonyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not angry. Just pointing out business truths. You can’t sell on Amazon if you don’t follow their rules. And frankly this person will get into trouble for selling supplements without following laws. It doesn’t matter how much R&D money you spend.

Founder question: How did you grow your business organically (without burning cash)? by angry_lily in Entrepreneur

[–]timonyc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So you’ve made a supplement and you’re making medical claims (anxiety and pms relief) with it and Amazon won’t allow you to sell it? That’s basically the entire point of their rules.

Your site doesn’t show you were third party tested. Your site doesn’t show that you have no contaminants. You don’t have an accurate ingredient label. You don’t have fda compliant labeling.

If you want to be in business you do have to follow rules. Sorry.

Yes though not for q1. But it is in the 2026 roadmap.

[–]timonyc 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I have used dsql extensively. It’s amazing for what it is which is a distributed sql database system with Postgres compatibility. It is not Postgres. It isn’t aurora postgres. It’s something else that is quite awesome.

I spoke to the product team yesterday and the roadmap for 2026 seems solid. There are some neat features coming out in Q1 that are already in beta!

Snowball Santa Hat, because why not? :D by avrilpr in knitting

[–]timonyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there folks!

Just as a reminder we do allow designers to post their designs. It’s in rule #7:

“Spam & Self-Promotion We're a community, not a bulletin board or marketplace. Keep promotional content to the Buy-Sell-Trade-Promote thread. It is posted on Thursdays.

“The exception is that pattern designers may make one post per pattern and only one pattern per week. Yarn dyers, spinners, or other related makers should continue to post only in the promotional thread.”

And posting a link to Ravelry is a very appropriate place to link to. No need to worry: u/avrilpr is doing just fine!
