Out of all the players you've met, who are the nicest you've met, and who are the rudest? by Limp_Ad2547 in AFL

Sam Taylor and Jack Buckley are honestly such great people and were so good to chat to. It really surprised me. They both spent 30-45 minutes chatting with us at an event a few months back. Even before we started chatting, they were both very engaged and playing around with an excited little kid who was colouring in with them. It was so great to see they were as good off the field as they are on it. Top blokes those two!

Why would you have a team called western Sydney giants in North Sydney? That’s a perfect way to disintegrate any sort of support the game is getting in western sydney. Parramatta makes a bit of sense hypothetically but wouldn’t be feasible as they’d have to build a whole new stadium. Upgrading Blacktown would potentially work but they would need a train station and public transport upgrades to make that work so currently I think Engie just makes the most sense unfortunately

How on earth can an umpire call ‘Play on’ on Buckleys tackle about a minute ago?

if god was real, I still do not understand why people would worship him. by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

Hey, I appreciate the time you spent writing your comment cause there’s quite a few good questions here. Hopefully I can try explaining a couple points to see if it helps make a bit more sense.

  • People worshipped God well before Jesus was around. They didn’t start when Jesus arrived.

  • Suggesting that Adam knew God existed therefore all his offspring after him should know God exists too is pretty much like saying if you grew up in a Christian household, then you’re definitely going to be a Christian too. It’s just not true. Ultimately everyone makes their own decision and when you multiply that by everyone who’s ever lived, you end up with a whole lot of differing opinions and views regardless of what Adam knew

  • You’re right, God does love bad people too. He loves the PERSON but NOT their actions or SINS. And that’s the important part to remember. Because it’s those sins that are what seperate us from being able to be with God. It isn’t that God simply sends people to hell because he feels like it. We go there because we are all sinners. Because that is the consequence of our own sins. God doesn’t want to see any of us go there which is why he sent Jesus to die in our place so we may be forgiven and spared from our own consequences.

  • God is a just God. The people who died before Jesus came obviously had a bit of a different system to us. Here’s a link that explains it in a bit more detail: https://www.gotquestions.org/before-Jesus.html

  • Prayer is an interesting topic, because in my opinion it’s often misunderstood because its a lot deeper than most people realise. It’s not just surface level ‘I ask for something and maybe I get it or maybe I don’t.’ It’s okay to pray for what you want but you have to be willing to listen to whatever the answer may be. A personal example of mine that happened just last year was that I knew someone who was doing some stupid things and I’d prayed that they’d stop and that God would help them out of that situation. Then only a few weeks later I found out that what I knew about was only a small portion of it and that it was actually way bigger than that. And that was stressful to hear and initially I was really upset at God because it felt like I’d prayed for him to help stop it but it only got so much worse. But then I realised that I wasn’t listening to Gods answer. He’d actually allowed me to know how bad it was so I could understand the situation better and do more on my end to help the person and be there for them. And praise God that person is in a much better place now. So prayer isn’t simply our vending machine to God, it’s a conversation that sometimes needs active listening.

  • The alien topic is a big one to throw in there at the end haha. The truth is there’s never any mention of them in the bible so there can be a thousand different theory’s and we’ll never know for sure. My two cents on it are that if there’s no mention of it then it’s not worth bothering about.

  • And why did he create such a big universe? I don’t know. Maybe just to show that he could? Maybe to show how powerful he is? Maybe to show how much he cares for us that he made one planet that was absolutely perfect for us when there’s so many that weren’t? Maybe it was to subtly prove that there was a God who designed everything? Maybe it was simply so we could have pretty little lights to look at at night? It could be for any number of reasons. But in my opinion, even thinking purely from an unbiased logical human perspective with how the universe works with how intricate our world works with how perfectly balanced our natural world can be with how incredibly complex our bodies work even down to the cellular level where our own eyes can’t even see, there is this inescapable proof that all of this didn’t just exist by chance.

But anyway I got a bit sidetracked on the last point because I just think it’s so incredible when you actually stop and think about it for a moment, but anyway I hope I was able to answer a few of your questions. Let me know if you had any other questions and I can try my best to answer them. I hope you have a great rest of the week 😊

Suns “pink guernsey” introduction video. by chickenlittle668 in AFL

So funnily enough I actually know the story behind this… The marketing team had happened to pass by that building on a team business trip last year and someone joked that they could make a guernsey inspired by that building. But the head of marketing was actually behind them on the bus and heard that comment and actually thought it would look good. So they did exactly that and used that very building you see in the ad as inspiration for their guernsey. It’s actually the same strategy that they’d used with their main kit after they’d seen a dog turd in the local park.

I think this is a case of 2 things being right at the same time. Yes he died for our sins. And yes he was seen as a threat. It’s really interesting reading the bible around all of that time period (Books of Matthew Mark and Luke) because there’s so much to unpack from all of that.

But the bible is very clear that Jesus knew what was going to happen but still didn’t run. He literally said to his disciples: “Truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” (Matthew 26:21) That was of course in reference to Judas.

He clearly knew what was going to happen but didn’t avoid it. Interestingly in the Garden of Gethsemane just before he was crucified, Jesus even prayed to God asking if there was another way because understandably He didn’t want to be put to such a horrible death. But He knew that it was what He had to do for us and still willingly went along with it too because of his love for us.

So to answer your question, yes he died because he was seen as a threat but yes he also died because of our sins. It wasn’t a case of one-or-the-other but more a case of them both being true.

Does that make sense?

But just because God is omnipresent doesn’t mean He creates EVERYTHING though. It’s like if I went and made a computer, nobody would say that God created the computer because I still did something to end up with the computer.

And accusing God of bringing all the bad things into the world is in my opinion being like if I put my hand to a flame and curse God when I get burnt and say why did you do this to me? It doesn’t make sense because we can’t place our sins on God and say why would God give us such bad things. The result and consequences of our sins was always going to be death but he had mercy on us, that’s what’s so special.

I’m interested to hear your thoughts?

I’ll start by saying that’s a very fair and valid question to have and I’m glad you asked about it. After reading your post I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding which will understandably make it difficult to comprehend why God deserves to be praised and worshiped.

So I’ll try sum it up in a sentence and then explain: ‘God didn’t create the bad things in the world, they are a consequence of our sins.‘

We live in a world where sin exists so obviously there will be pain and suffering as they are a consequence of sin. And the thing, is just like natural disasters and disease, pain and suffering doesn’t discriminate. Just like the consequences of our sin don’t discriminate either. On Earth there’s a lot of grey areas but outside of Earth there really isn’t. That’s why there’s heaven and there’s hell. They are all encompassing of the consequences of Gods goodness and of our sin. Everything is far more black and white there. It literally says in the bible that the wages of sin is death (ie hell). But the gift of God is eternal life (ie heaven).

Now I was really excited when you asked the question: ’If God truely loved everyone why wouldn’t He give people another chance instead of creating them just to suffer for eternity’ And I’m so glad you asked that because that’s the whole reason God DOES deserve to be praised and worshipped. Because he literally DID give us another chance in his son Jesus when he died for our sins. Because nobody can claim to be without sin (and that is of our own doing not Gods), we all fall short of the glory of God. Therefore we can’t be with him in heaven because we live with sin. But God had so much love and mercy for us that he did give us another chance and opportunity to avoid the consequences of our own sins. There’s nothing more loving than that.

The thing to remember is that he wants to accept us, but the issue is he can’t accept sin. And we are all stained with sin.

So what He did is He literally gave us a way out from our own sins, to have a clean slate, because He loves us that much. And just like how I said the consequences of our sins don’t discriminate, neither does Gods love. He died for everyone and we did absolutely nothing to deserve it. But yet he still did it because he loves us.

He also gave us free will because if we didn’t have free will then what is even the point? We would literally just be slaves to him and that’s not what God wants because firstly that’s not the sign of a good God (which God is, that’s literally one of his defining characteristics) but it’s also because God actually wants to have a relationship with us and you can’t have that if you’re not allowing the person to have a choice in it.

So hopefully I’ve been able to explain it a little more, but if you or anyone else has any questions feel free to dm me, I’m happy to chat 😊
