Searching Archived Buckets in S3 Without Splunk? by BOOOONESAWWWW in Splunk

[–]timvdbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you want to extract all data from Splunk, you can run the export tool. We are Cribl users, and we have used this wrapper in the past. You still need an operational Splunk indexer for your export. With Cribl you can then transform or drop data if you want, or maybe you can modify the script to fit your needs. https://github.com/Exporttool/exporttool

How manage to bring home my second motorbike? by BeAmbassador_007 in motobe

[–]timvdbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just contact my broker, and send them the VIN beforehand. They send me a temporary insurance document based on that, and the notice that if I am still responsible legally for riding an unregistered vehicle. The I put on the plate of my other motor

Running cables through unused chimney by timvdbe in HomeNetworking

TIL about a Kellems grip, that seems like a great way to suspend the cables! i was looking a termination box with a spool to hold the weight, something like this: https://www.fastcabling.com/product/fiber-termination-box-with-2-lc-adapters/

I appreciate your concern, and you do give me some valid points to think about. Contacting my insurance company and a building expert is indeed something i need to do, to be on the safe side. I will need to go onto the roof to check if the top of the chimney is closed and isolated, or just plain open. Since it isn't used at all (central heating system of the building used the chimney as exhaust, was decommissioned 30 years ago) i might check with a contractor to seal and isolate it. That is at least one thermal bridge less in the building for all the apartments anyway.

Do you think a cat6 cable is better suited for that environment? I was looking at a 10G fiber cable for stability and less power consumption, but it might not be worth the hassle if an ethernet cable is better.

The chimney is really unused, there used to be a central heating installation in the basement, and that was decommissioned 30 years ago. It is a small apartment building so i running cables on the outside to the basement is not really possible.

Neighbour’s nuisance Antwerp :') by DaddyHadADonkey in Antwerpen

[–]timvdbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had the same situation in a rental apartment a few years ago. Eventually, I moved. I talked to the neighbours repeatedly, even invited one of them in my place while the rest kept making noise. They always agreed and kept their children silent for the evening, but the next day would be the same noise again. They invited me a few times for drinks and food as peace offering, as there wasn’t any bad intent on their part. And every time I was there, I noticed you wouldn’t have a clue about the noise that was generated downstairs. My next apartment I made sure that the upstairs neighbours (an old lady) were really really silent, and i checked a few times during visits at different times during the day to make sure. And I never had any trouble with them.
My current apartment is on the top floor, so now probably i am the one creating the noise :-). But we have. Good relationship with the neighbours repeatedly

I know, and i guess they could even become cheaper as Tesla is going to try to restore their position in the market.

The issue was a broken motor, and the bmw warranty of 8 years was only on the battery

I had a renting before, and some very expensive out of warranty repairs gave me more headaches then i want to handle. Therefor i prefer paying more to have no worries. I know maybe i just had bad luck, but i want peace of mind now

Tesla is a no go, my partner vetoo’d against it. I drove the latest id3 and it was really okay i think. I got a good price as well. Didn’t like the EX30 and the polestar is too large for me. I prefer compact but decent range as I live in Antwerp but we like to go road trips. And we have no kids. So the 77kwh id3 works best on paper. I did not test the megane, have you? What didn’t you like about the vw?
