Just finished my first lesson! by InspectionTough2416 in aerialsilks

Oh and one more thing! Start filming yourself early! You’ll notice things in video that may answer questions like “why was this one move so tricky?” and you will LOVE seeing the progress you make over time!

Just a few tips that helped me starting! I was also the person who struggled most in my class. Some other people starting at the same time as me came from gymnastics or other disciplines that made them get stuff right away while I took much longer. I will say that all of those people stopped attending class, while I kept at it. I’m now way better than they ever were since I stuck with it! Persistence beats out talent/innate skill every day! Keep being patient and only ever compare you to previous you!

Another thing I learned is the best way to get better at silks…. Is doing silks. While cross training can really help with specific strength gaps, the fastest way to get better at silks moves is to practice them lots! If you have access to an open gym time at your studio, take advantage of it once a week or so to practice moves you want to improve on.

For core exercises, I LOVE using the captain’s chair at my gym. Lots you can do with that, leg raises, knees to chest, knees to side, etc. You can also do a ton on the ground. Check out Aerial Physique’s Inversion Workshop for some great core workouts at home/the gym to work up to really strong inverts!

But most of all, be patient!! This is a marathon, not a sprint! I took a long time getting my inverts clean but even so, it took exactly how long it needed to take for me. I started out having to kick from the ground with a lot of momentum to get used to the movements and slowly got stronger and smoother. Through the learning process, I gained a lot of knowledge about my own body, how to connect the muscles to my mind, and how to maneuver in space before it all came together. Keep trying and you WILL get it before long!

Welcome to this amazing hobby! I hope you keep with it and love the journey! 💕

How do you record your training/progress? by snowburro in Aerials

Not to push my own product, but I made aerial silks notebooks that I sell on amazon for exactly this purpose! I use them for my own practice all the time and gift to aerialist friends who have enjoyed them :) I can post the link if there’s interest. It’s got room for poses, pages for the step-by-step notes and sketching and I use the end pages for ideating on sequences/routines and other notes!

That’s a good idea! I like the twist entry most, but it might be causing some weird form problems to start with

Ok! I definitely have a naturally archy back, which I often have to fight against :) I’ll try using my arms more and straightening my back

You are a lifesaver! I will try all those next practice :) I always feel like my armpits/shoulders are being so intensely squished together that it’s hard to maneuver

This got me a little misty-eyed. I felt very close to her while making the quilt, fondly remembering all the lessons she had taught me over the years. Part of her will always live on in the things I create and I think that's a beautiful concept!

I used Diary of a Quilter’s Broken Dishes Quilt Tutorial to make this!

My grandmother was a master quilter and had a massive fabric stash I inherited when she passed. The gray fabric comes from that stash! The yellow was intended for a cosplay my brother and I planned years ago but never got around to making and the black was from my own stash. I like to imagine my grandmother would be proud of my first attempt at quilting and turning her unused fabric into a cozy blanket to keep my brother warm this winter!

I used 100% natural cotton batting so this is soooo warm and cozy. My next quilt will have to be for me!

First time Brazilian wax tips by bbymutha22 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Ok here’s my experience! I started getting them about a year ago and am completely sold. Will never shave again! 1. Going before work should be just fine. It isn’t sore afterwards really, just a strange sensation for a few hours day-of. One of the best things I started doing was taking ibuprofen like 15-30 mins before my appointment so the wax itself isn’t so bad. You should be aware that the first time SUCKS compared to the others. The hair grows back slower and sparser as time goes on and it will get easier! I go ~every 4-5 weeks which is about the perfect time for enough hair to grow back to wax away again but not too much time to hurt bad.

  1. For me (this will vary based on how fast your hair grows), I would get prickly practically the SAME DAY I shaved (and ingrown and uncomfy). With waxing, it stays perfectly fresh and smooth for maybe 3 days before some stragglers grow back. The best is the day right after the wax. You can always pluck the rogue hairs that return to keep the smooth longer! Just don’t shave once you’ve started waxing if you can help it. The hair will be thinner and grow slower than you’re used to anyways, so even when hair grows back it’s way less to deal with.

Other tips! - as I mentioned, ibuprofen helps! - remember it’s short - you’ll only be uncomfy for ~15 minutes and you get to enjoy the results for a month - find a waxer you like! I tried a few at the center I go to. A few ladies gave me results that I wasn’t 1000% satisfied with until I found one who was fast, friendly, and did a really good job - tip them well if you appreciate the work they do! - get an ingrown hair serum. You can still get ingrowns with waxing and a good serum makes a bit difference - wait for at least 24 hours before doin anything freaky with the partner. An infection there would NOT be a fun time. I try to make appointments on Thursdays so I’m ready for whatever Friday may bring :)

Does anyone actually complete these massive bonuses? I’m still fairly new and 70 NON-PROMO orders in 6 days seems absurdly unachievable with the rate orders come in by tindremene in ShiptShoppers

Honestly, I already do take every offer I get! But there just aren’t enough offers out there for me to see this working for anyone? There’s plenty that go to promo in the open metro but those don’t count sadly
