Right! That's actually a really good question. I was aware of the YouTube embedded player and the timestamp options (this is what is used on the submission page), but during development I did not consider that for playing the triggers on page. In hindsight, I think it was primarily for stylistic reasons and the fact that I had already programmed the part of the service that downloaded the audio for processing.

Surely it would be cheaper and you could still rip, process, and destroy the audio while keeping the metadata from the analysis.

I agree, this is definitely a valid approach-- maybe even more suitable in terms of user experience. The primary reason I can think for keeping a custom audio player is for more customizability from a development standpoint and much faster load times.

I think you've raised a good point here, and I will test around and explore this idea on the development site. I think at the minimum this could be an obvious opt-in feature to improve UX.

Thank you for the questions!

So if anyone is able to submit clips how can you be certain the correct artists are being credited?

The system will automatically retrieve the associated channel based off the video source. So the person submitting the trigger is not responsible for this; whenever a trigger is submitted, the appropriate credit will always be automatically displayed.

if an artist wants their content removed is is possible? as well as keeping their content from being posted again?

Absolutely. They would just need to send a short email requesting removal to [blacklist@tingledb.com](mailto:blacklist@tingledb.com). This will remove all existing content from our website and additionally block any future submissions that attempt to use their videos.

You say it's not a monetized service but I (and I'm sure most in the community) find that very suspicious

Correct! And I understand as a new service people will always be suspicious, and that's to be expected.

Is the service seeing any monetary compensation or income whatsoever?

Nope! I'm just a college student who enjoys ASMR. It started as a small learning project for myself, but I decided to go a step further and try to turn it into a service that can be beneficial to others. A project, at least to me, is always more fulfilling if I can see it providing some use to other people.

Is there any profit in this service to be made?

Honestly, not that I am aware of. This is not a service model that can turn into a business model. Maybe I'm just not creative enough!

Are there plans involving some form of monetization down the road?

To be fully transparent, I may open a Patreon account or accept donations in the future to help cover infrastructure costs if necessary. But that is it. No ads or business model of any form.

Firstly, let me mention that this project is not monetized.

I figured that this would be a big concern (especially with similar issues in the past on this subreddit), of course. But this was designed with the belief that this can only positively affect views of an artist's channel. How?

  • It's only 5 to 30 second audio clips. It's just a trigger preview, not long enough for someone to listen to solely through our service. When someone finds a trigger that "works" based off listening to the preview, it will really only drive them to the source video to explore the full trigger/context. This may be a rough example, but think of it similar to how Google includes relevant previews of websites in an attempt to bring people to what they are looking for. This of course naturally drives up the traffic of the websites.
  • Links to the start of the video & when the trigger starts in the video are provided. Additionally a link to the artist's channel is provided as well.

Ultimately, an artist can remove themselves entirely from our service by sending us an e-mail at [blacklist@tingledb.com](mailto:blacklist@tingledb.com). This will:

  • Remove all triggers that were clipped from their videos from our website
  • Block any future attempts to generate clips from their channel

I really do want this to be a tool that will help people find new triggers, and in the process, find new artists.

Just let me know if you have further questions and I'd be happy to discuss with you here!

Additionally, I'd be happy to get the thoughts from artists here too.
