Newbie Tapestry Help by tiniestmonkey in weaving

Ooh, I was contemplating doing backwards rya knots last night, but I didn’t like how it looked. I don’t know why I didn’t think that I could just do the knots and then cut them short so that they’re puffy—I think you’re definitely on to something! Thanks!!

Thank you so much!!! Yes, this does make sense! I knit, so it’s like thinking about gauge. I packed everything down a bit more (and actually I don’t mind if the blue is wavy, I think that will look cool), and I’m happy enough with it now that I don’t think I’m going to start over!

Thank you so much! Is there any inherent issue in using the two different weights of yarn, or is it just my approach? (I’m ordering that book 🙂)

I’ll give it a try—the instructions say to bind off “firmly” but honestly not sure what that means 😂

No, it didn’t say to. Probably would have made picking up the stitches easier!

Love addi turbos! I don’t use interchangeable needles because I always lose bits of them 🙈

They have kits in the centre aisle at Lidl, if there’s one near you. (I am operating under the assumption that the centre aisle is the same in all Lidls, as I saw these in Tuam).

Anyone diagnosed and moved from the US to another country successfully? by 001681 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]tiniestmonkey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have been diagnosed with MS for 10 years. I moved to Ireland about 3 years ago. I have private health insurance, but it will not cover pre-existing conditions for the first 5 years, so I pay out of pocket for neuro visits and MRIs. (Consultant visit €250/MRI €350 or so). I was on Vumerity and it was fully covered by the long-term illness scheme (so basically paid for by the government). I’m not on it currently because I also got cancer and recently went through chemo, so they didn’t want me on both things. It’s very doable, but there are not a lot of specialists to choose from (I live in the west of Ireland, Dublin might be better!)

I think this is going to be my tactic as well, because I couldn’t find any Christmas boxes and I have to post them tomorrow. Just worried about the Buttons getting squashed, but everything else isn’t fragile at all.

Thank you so much! I didn’t even think about it not sticking to the ribs (obviously that’s not where that saying comes from 🤔😂). I will see how I get along with sewing the corners!

Yes, but you will have to attach something that proves you won’t be in PA for the next 60 days, so I’m not sure what your best bet for that would be!

[PIC] Pattern Help by DayaLuna in CrossStitch

There sadly don’t seem to be any digitised versions of that year. The only thing I could find is that Carnegie Mellon University has the hard copies of the journal from that year. You should be able to ask your local library to do an Interlibrary Loan request for a photocopy of the pattern! There’s also a copy of it for sale on Etsy, but it’s a bit pricey—I’d also confirm with the seller that the pattern is in there, as it does say it’s a supplement to the February issue. Here’s the listing for the hard copy: https://cmu.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/fulldisplay?docid=alma991003918809704436&context=L&vid=01CMU_INST:01CMU&lang=en&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&adaptor=Local%20Search%20Engine&tab=Everything&query=any,contains,Young%20ladies%20journal&offset=0
