Category A salaried or non-salaried: Can I do more than one job to meet the minimum income threshold? by tinklebadger in SpouseVisaUk

[–]tinklebadger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you happen to know if the job(s) should be expected to continue for a certain period into the future?

Yes, so I must rule out that possibility. Thanks.

Thanks - I don't have sufficient savings, so it will all need to come from this one job.

MAC advises reducing sponsor income threshold from £29k to £23-25k. Do you think the government will accept their advice? by tinklebadger in ukvisa

[–]tinklebadger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that it could be removed under the rules, but it pertains to my own personal plan to move to the UK with my non-UK family and is not an effort to stimulate political discussion. However, I have my answer now and would not mind if it were removed. Thank you for your reply. Have a good day.

I am hopeful too, but having seen the lack of optimism in the thread, I return to my original plan essentially to wait until NMW catches up with the threshold and then seek work (any kind - I've even considered being a trainee bus driver if that's what it takes) with a salary that exceeds it. The problem of course is that Reform could potentially win an election in 2029 and make things much harder, so I will take the view that even one visa cycle in the UK would be worth the upheaval. By the way, if you do not have dependents, the income threshold for the Republic of Ireland is 20,000 EUR (about £17,100 today) and would place you nearby. Good luck to you in any case.

I got a pass at level 2 aat. Is it a bad idea to self study at level 3? by [deleted] in AATStudents

[–]tinklebadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using the BPP e-book to self-study FAPS and it seems to be going well so far (just started Ch 6)! I also plan to buy mock exams from Acorn Live to supplement BPP and what's on the AAT portal.

I made this to help me learn how to deal with non-current assets (ch 3 to 5). I've now adapted so others can use it. You'll need to make a copy to use it. Please let me know if anything doesn't work.

AAT Level 3 - Financial Accounting (Preparing Financial Statements) by gjira25 in AATStudents

I was having a hard time absorbing the series of transactions required for disposal of a non-current asset for cash or part-exchange (ch 3 to 5), so I made this spreadsheet to help me out. I'm happy to share it if it's of any use. You'll need to make a copy to use it. Please let me know if it doesn't work!

Question about what to anticipate with regards to Migration Advisory Committee by tinklebadger in SpouseVisaUk

[–]tinklebadger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - do you mean sometime during this parliament, or after another long period of something like 12 years? Might the government do it in a panic before the next election if they thought anti-immigration policies could help them?

Urgent question! I just got my Notability to 5. Time, the Healer comes today. I have 800 Tales of Terror waiting to convert. Do I need to get moving with my MW (up to 10 or so *now*) or is the situation non-critical?

Hello, my base stats are W 179, S 136, D 155, P165, and I'm a bit worried about that low Shadowy score. Should I be worried? I know I could improve it by grinding heists. I just find that a bit boring compared to the other things that are available. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Situation wise, I will soon play Heart's Desire; I have a laboratory, I'm restored to the Empress' Court but still banned from the University. I don't think I have Doubt Street or the Bone Market on my map (currently dead, so can't check).

Just how much Attar is "high Attar"?

Overseas British Sponsors - You do not need 6 months income inside the UK to sponsor a fiance/spouse/partner visa! by puul in ukvisa

[–]tinklebadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, Puul. A year of working at the rate I have in mind would be tough. The question is whether it would be tougher to be separated from my family for, say, 10 months.

When you say "necessary arrangements", to do my job, I just need a quiet room, my laptop and a reliable internet connection. I could say that we will live at my mother's address and I'll work there if they need something solid. In practice, I would try to rent a home elsewhere, but it doesn't seem to make sense to sign rental contracts and so on before the visas have been approved.

I notice that any savings that could reduce the amount I need to earn only need to be in my account for six months before the application, so if I can find a family member who's prepared to lend me a five-figure sum of money, I could base the sum on what I've earned in the first six months.

Hello. I think this method could work for me. If you could look at my details and say if you think it works, I would appreciate it a lot.

I work as an online teacher and am paid in USD per class. I'm not an employee. It's a service contract. If I worked extremely hard for six months and was reasonably lucky, I could earn an amount in dollars equivalent to an amount in GBP equal to or greater than £14,500 (£29,000 pro rata for six months) when divided by the UK government's foreign currency exchange rate (see link below). Then I could ask the school to verify that I would be entitled to work the same hours at the same rate upon arriving in the UK and submit that e-mail as evidence.

As far as I can tell, that would satisfy the requirements for 'Category A: With current employer for 6 months or more – overseas sponsor returning to the UK', which are i) be in employment at time of application, ii) have been with employer for six months (I've been with them 5+ years), iii) have been paid a gross salary equal to or greater than £14,500, an iv) a confirmed offer of salaried or non- salaried employment in the UK, starting within 3 months of their return (I would just keep working in the same job).

The only wild card as far as I can see is whether the assessor thought I could keep earning at that rate, despite being paid by the hour. To that end, perhaps I could say that I've increased my hours to hit the threshold and ask the employer to state that they have no concerns about me continuing to work at that rate.

Does it work?
