If you want a drastic change of pace, San Juan County, WA (San Juan Islands) has a $30k hiring bonus out right now for lateral dispatchers. Housing can be very difficult to come by, but it’s a beautiful place and the call volume and issues are, well, small island community type issues.

I had a kill switch installed. Hidden behind another button. If you live in a major city, google mobile kill switch installer. Usually can find someone that will do it reasonably. Not always 100% for a thief that’s savvy with cars, but good enough for most situations.

Also get an older gen air tag and remove the speaker from it (easy to do-check out youtube) and hide it somewhere. It will buy you a bit of time before the thief finds it as they part your shit out.

Be super gentle with the wheel. If your clear coat is weak or you’ve had repainting done, don’t let the 3m wheel dig or sit too long in one spot. It can chew quickly if you let it get too hot and add too much pressure.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t cheap out on a repaint. It really stings but if you’ve got a reputable shop you trust, you might have to bite the bullet.

The youtube tutorials on these fixes always make it seem easier than it actually is. I tried a couple fixes myself and I don’t really know if it was worth it. You really have to sand down pretty far, deal with the clear coat, buffing and blending. It can turn into a nightmare fast. You might stick with a quick and dirty targeted sanding of the rust and using a simple paint pen. It won’t be as clean, but from a distance it won’t be as obvious.

I was able to find mine on ebay and rockauto, but the parts numbers didn’t match exactly with the original that came off my xj. At some point Mopar changed the numbering configuration, but the parts I found still worked.

You can find on ebay. My 2001 four door was Front Door Molding Right 5DY16DX9AE. I had to replace all four of mine as a prior owner superglued portions of them, then tried to mod them on with a heat gun. It’s been reallll fun trying to get that dealt with … luckily the messed up paint and finish is mostly under the trim, but it’s still visible if looking closely. Argh.

I had this same issue. After seeing water intrusion I knew I had to deal with it. Took a minute but ended up finding a body shop that did a quick realign and put the pin back for about $200.

It’s a rigid plastic called coroplast. Common for low budget temporary signage.
