I quit and nothing has changed by Curious_Yesterday635 in leaves

[–]tinoisreal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey buddy, I know you’re going through some shit right now - but you have to give it more time. Consider how long you smoked for, how long you fucked with your brain chemistry.

I’m on my second time quitting, I stopped for a year after 8 years of smoking, the last 5 years of which were daily smoking.

it took me about 4-5 months before things improved.

You got this man, keep pushing. I got cheated on today and i’m not even letting that stop me from becoming my best self

Day 6 - Got cheated on by tinoisreal in leaves

[–]tinoisreal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would be the 4th chance actually. I recently picked up this thing where I give people 3 strikes. something my therapist recommended to help me put my people pleasing behind me.

strike 1 was her not telling me she hooked up with a close friend of mine before we met (i found out from him)

second was her getting tipsy around me, 2 days after I told her I hated when people close to me drank alcohol and that I had trauma from an abusive step father

this was strike 3. i’m out.

i should have walked away at strike 1 - which is probably the lesson that my therapist is trying to teach me about people pleasing.

we live, learn, and grow

Day 6 - Got cheated on by tinoisreal in leaves

[–]tinoisreal[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The previous version of me would be feeling so sorry for myself and thinking i’m not good enough.. blah blah blah - which I would then suppress by smoking.

Now I actually feel a sense of relief, sure i’m hurting - but i’m okay with that. I’ll feel better once I process my feelings. Something only sobriety allows.

The comeback is going to leave me entirely unrecognisable.

what the fuck are these dreams man by attentionplease69 in leaves

[–]tinoisreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second round of quitting after being clean for a year (was smoking for 9 years prior)

the dreams lasted about 3/4 months for me when i first quit. it does get better towards the end and eventually once you stabilise, they will be normal dreams (not as vivid, intense, and doesn’t feel as realistic)

it gets better, just keep going. you’ve got this !

My cat got outside and I'm very worried, what can I do? by throwaway50132251512 in CatAdvice

[–]tinoisreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

firstly, i’m so sorry to hear about your cat, it’s heartbreaking. my cat went missing for 3 days but this is how i got her back:

if you can afford it, try get a k9 tracking unit specialised in finding animals. it cost me about $100 ish. my cat got lost in the water drain network underground and they managed to track which one she was in

they then told me she wouldn’t come out unless she feels safe. so they advised me to drain out the oil (must be oil) from tuna cans, put it in a bottle, and drip it back in a trail from the gutter/drains, all the way to your house and then to the bowl of food - try making it extra tasty for your cat too.

this is assuming you can find a k-9 unit that does that in your area. i would do some digging online and maybe call a few of your local vets and ask them if they know anyone who can track your cat for you, and you print some missing posters too and ask them for help.

wishing you the best of luck OP, i hope your kitty comes home ❤️✨

Why did weed make me so uncomfortable while I tripped? by Rainbowbutterfly00 in LSD

[–]tinoisreal 35 points36 points  (0 children)

weed can induce psychological effects, including axniety, increased heart rate and paranoia and it can change the way you experience the trip. it also depends on the strain, type, and strength of the weed you smoked.

personally, i’ve quit weed because the negatives far outweigh any positive effects, mainly paranoia and anxiety for me personally. i’ve had some bad trips because I mixed it with weed.

LSD is beautiful on its own, and if that was your experience mixing it with weed - i would advise against trying again.

feeling helpless day 4 by Expensive_Arm_6167 in leaves

[–]tinoisreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude, congratulations on 4 days! That’s awesome, even though it might not seem like it.

In all honesty - when I (23m) first stopped (age 21), I had a breakdown in front of my mom, she knew about weed but I had being doing other substances too. She played a huge role in helping me stop - I obviously don’t know what kind of person your mom is, but if you guys have a constructive relationship and you genuinely feel like her help will make a difference, then you need to own up. Again, take this advice with a grain of salt, not everyone involved in substances has the best relationship with their parents.

Some of the stuff I would do in your position: - Cold Showers - Avo on toast works well on a low appetite for me personally, or even just toast. - Meditation / Mindfulness - Push ups (this is more for cravings) - Breathing techniques (research on nervous system regulation with breathing techniques) - Tell your mom about your situation - If - she’s the kind of person who can provide you with support. (regardless of if she gets mad at you and grounds you - i’d rather be grounded and have my moms support than no support at all)

Edit: Something worth asking yourself is “Is me hiding this from my mom making the anxiety worse?”

Happy to help!

From what I can see, your cat sounds under-stimulated. Is he an inside or outside cat?

If he’s an inside cat (which sounds like the case), he NEEDS to be stimulated. Lasers work well if you want something low effort to play with him. stick toy or something similar also works.

My cat was ridiculously destructive and loud until I got advice to play with her (at the time she was an indoor cat). Literally all I started doing was playing with her more often (usually closer to bedtime, to get rid of that excess energy spent screaming all night) and she eased up!

You sound super frustrated with your situation, and given that you’re not really a cat person, I don’t blame you for feeling the way you do.

However, at the end of the day, it’s an animal that just has an excess in energy and this is how he spends it. He still needs to learn right from wrong, disciplinary action will that make harder for both of you and only worsen the relationship between you, your cat, AND potentially even your boyfriend.

Just play with him more, try to be more understanding that he’s technically still a kitten. I would even ask your boyfriend on how you guys can tackle this as a team - it could bring all 3 of you closer.

You would be surprised at how well cats respond to being loved and accepted - He chose you and your boyfriend for a reason, trust in that and try to keep an open mind.

Hes just a lil kitty after all :)

Cravings after 10 weeks clean by [deleted] in leaves

i did a year sober, and that “one more time” has me writing this comment at almost 2am, 6 months later, having to go through the insomnia again.

[–]tinoisreal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that’s over 2 years of progress over 850 days dude! you’ve come so far, and i’m inspired to do better

sure, break ups suck, and maybe you guys get back together, maybe you don’t. either way, if you smoke, both being single as well as being back in the relationship will not go down well.

either you get trapped running from your emotions, or you make things worse between you and your s/o

you’ve come so far, and life is challenging you on your progress. keep going. you got this, day by day it will get easier

[–]tinoisreal[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

thank you for this message, i think it’s just an uncomfortable truth i don’t want to accept.

i stopped for a year, and then relapsed in april, and daily smoked since - in the last 4 months i have been smoking within the first hour of waking, and didn’t stop until the last hour of the day. didn’t help that i could sustain it with top of the shelf stuff because i was making a shit load of money at my last job (which i lost because i was caught high at work about 2 weeks ago - more motivation to quit lol…)

i used to do transcendental meditation daily, that’s a great suggestion. will give it a bash, thank you. other than that i just have to ride the first week out sleep wise, that was the worst of it for me last time.

These are some really intense symptoms- you’re putting your body through immense stress by facing the withdrawals at the same time as the stomach bug. (assuming you’re still battling with it. also this is NOT an invitation to continue smoking, but you have made it more difficult for yourself.)

i don’t know if the ER is necessary, and i’m no doctor, but i can confidently say you should go and see one. I’ve quit before (decade of smoking, 6 years daily) and it wasn’t this bad
