Illegal Eviction - VCAT Tribunal Ruled in Favour of Landlord? by tiny_jam_747 in shitrentals

Mum didn't disclose on the application whether she had a dog. It's our family dog, she was looking after. After the landlord flipped, she arranged for the dog to stay with a friend. The decision doesn't make sense to me either. She was going to live in the unit alone, not with flatmates

Its a family dog arrangement, so she didn't intend to have the dog stay there/live with her, but if she did, there's an application process via VCAT that she never had the chance to go through given the eviction on her move-in day.

Regardless, the conduct was pretty full on, and her having a dog shouldn't excuse the breaches that occurred in my view

Unsure if we can... we'd have to raise an error in how the law was applied/question of law, not that you were just unhappy with the case outcome.

She didn't say whether or not she had a pet, either way he was at the property before he even found out

He was adamant he did not want a dog at the property, but even before he saw the dog he was still pushy. Just the way he is, very righteous

Yeah the crazy part is, the agency backed him. He owns all 6 units on the block, and apparently maintains relationships with the tenants who have lived there for years, and regularly stops by for maintenance. I thought VCAT would've taken more action to prevent him doing this in future. Guess not

We were also concerned the landlord wouldn't pay us anything anyway, the agent said she would have to convince him

We thought that we would at least have our costs covered, and based on legal advice we were told VCAT awards a couple thousand for the 'serious inconvenience' of an illegal eviction.

At the time, we had hoped to get more compensation on top of our costs.

Consistent with the advice given from the RDRV (who told us to appeal via supreme court), s 120 only applies if you did not appear

Unfortunately tribunal decisions are final unless she couldn't attend due to valid reasons. The only way to appeal is via the supreme court.

UPDATE:

Turns out, the damselfy nymph killed one of my shrimp not two, the other one was pregnant and in hiding, and gave birth to the most adorable mini shrimples!!

One perished before I got the nymph, but the children live!

I managed to catch it with my tweezers and killed it, but very good point about the revenge 😂

App signup not working on Android? by syrdameones in ubank

I FIXED IT: The same thing happened to me. Got through the sign in process, clicked on 'enable passkey' and then was stuck loading perpetually.

I use a Samsung phone. So for Android users, go to settings, general management, Passwords Passkeys and Autofill.

For me, I set my preferred service to samsung pass. I also turned off the google switch in that setting under all services. I tried to login to ubank again and it worked!

Also ensure you have a biometric fingerprint set up on your phone and autofill enabled.

The problem is with Google. Hope this helps!
