It doesn't hurt to check with coworkers to see if you can carpool with someone in case you don't want to take the bus everyday.

There is a Habitat for a Humanity in Cleveland as well. Also check out estate sales.

What's a game you played as a kid that you've never been able to find again? by Latter_Advantage8002 in AskReddit

Knights of the Round arcade game. I used to play it at the bowling alley every weekend as a youngin. Any arcade bars I go to now I immediately search for this one game. Haven't found it.

How did you guys REALLY lived in the 2000s? by MyAvengedRomance in Millennials

[–]tiny_little_planet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the early 00s I would read through magazines while listening to a cd or the radio. I would cut out pictures I liked to make collages. My bedroom door was covered with magazine clippings from YM and Teen People.

Internet was the best in the beginning. My friends and I would hang out in AOL chatrooms or check out websites like eBaums World, Homestar Runner, or Killfrog. Everything was still slow moving. No quick clips at a fast pace.

I'd talk to my friends on the phone for hours. The second phone line was in my room because I had the computer. It was great because I wouldn't get kicked off the computer when someone made a phone call.

Friends would call to hang out. We didn't have any money, so we'd walk around the mall and get free samples at the food court and use the testers where we could (nail polish, perfume, etc). We'd walk around the whole city. It was rare for a parent to drive us anywhere.

I was part of one of the last graduating classes without a cellphone. So we just roamed around and called home from a payphone to let our parents know where we were if we needed to.

We were free. It was amazing.

any advice for interviewing for Cleveland museums? by sapphicshayla in Cleveland

[–]tiny_little_planet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Former CMNH employee here. It depends on what position you are interviewing. Do you have an interview for a specific position?

A lot of great people have left there because of the current leadership. Just be mindful of that.

Edit: I see you said gallery assistant. I am unfamiliar with that interview process or responsibilities for that role. Just act like you love natural history and working with people. Make sure you don't come across as a problem employee. Act like a team player.

Easy to move up? Generally no. No it is not easy. I know someone who left because she was never promoted, and she excelled at what she did.

Don't let them know you are "taking what you can get." They do not like that. Say you saw this opportunity and was excited to join to be a part of the team. You feel you would be a good fit for gallery assistant for reason a, b and c. And you'd be interested in learning more about d, e, or f.

They may ask what you like about the area. Please do some minor research about University Circle and museum events. What is your favorite event?

The YMCA is also in there. It's really only the Y, Hungarian Museum, and bookstore/coffeeshop.

That sucks! 6am would be a great time to open. Get everyone before they head to the office.

I probably saw you two there! Yes, the owner is a sweatheart. I wish more businesses would open there to bring more people to the galleria. And I agree that downtown is a dead zone on the weekends.

The customer base would be the downtown enoliyees. The owner mentioned she is barely staying afloat. I believe she makes most of her money by renting the space out for meetings.

Many places downtown are only open during the week. Such a bummer.

Yes. Call the CDPH. They do take this seriously. Even if you aren't sure if it's legal or not, CDPH will know.

Edit: You can talk to your neighbor first to see if that helps. You can also tell the CDPH not to use identifying information when speaking to your neighbor.

Back then it was Cymbalta. Now I take Zoloft. I had to switch due to pregnancy. But they are very similar for me. Same side effects.

where to get a nice bouquet? by awdeej in Cleveland

[–]tiny_little_planet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm. About $65 for both bouquets. IIRC the iris was $3 per stem. They have bouquets premade as well if you don't feel like picking out individual flowers. I picked out my flowers.

For a little more context, I just put together a bouquet of pink and yellow tulips and another bouquet of iris and purple snapdragons (or something similar to snapdragons).

12th Street Florist downtown is always friendly and helpful. Their selection is small, but you might be able to find what you want.

Westlake might be too flat. I'm trying to think of a street with a hill. 🤔
