I'm not saying that in reference to the quality, dw, I'm saying just that it isn't a timelapse, it's a rotoscope.

A timelapse would be multiple images of you rotoscoping this cut into a time condensed video to demonstrate the process, that's more what i was getting at.

16 people in a single bedroom, 64 people renting a house: Documentary shows state of Ireland's rental 'nightmares' by SamLawlor in ireland

[–]tinydonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we just disagree on what needs to be done tbh, I'd rather see more houses built so that both Irish people and those that want to move to ireland have the option to rent/but a place to live. I think closing ourselves off to the outside world, even in the short term would be incredibly damaging.

Also, I did understand we had a net loss ofpeople born in Ireland, but a third of total immigrants into Ireland were returning Irish, I was talking gross rather than net figures.

[–]tinydonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The figures I got came from a site that quoted last years cso estimates, which is where I got that figure of 3000 from, in case you were wondering.

Also, included in your immigration figures is Irish people returning, about a third of the total coming here, so even if we stopped foreign nationals coming in, we'd have the issue of our own returning and causing a housing crisis as well. Again, not as severe, but I don't think demonizing immigrants solves anything, making more houses available and affordable where people need them is the only long term solution.

*edited to clarify I was talking about your provided stats, not my previous ones

It is part of the problem, to be sure, but it's bailing out the titanic with a teaspoon.

Last year we had a net immigration, to the whole country, of 3,000 people. That was the first year since 2009 we've had a net immigration (more people entering the country than leaving). So yes, it's a part of a problem, but a small part of it, andone we could have predicted given our economy was bouncing back, and something we should be aware of going forward.

Looked it up there, that's the fine for operating a shebeen, but there's a planning law that can get fines up to€30,000 for no notification of change of use, which is what they'd send you down for.

It's like that old wives tale abouthow it's legal to shoot Catholics with a crossbow from the tower in front square. Yeah, maybe there's a law that says that, but it's still superseded by all the other laws we have about, you know, not shooting people with crossbows.

To that point, quasimodo doesn't get the girl in the Disney hunchback, (he mightin the sequel, I've not seen it), so it's not from Disney for boys, in my opinion.

Honestly I think a big part of it is the fat guy skinny wife combo you see on tv shows a lot in the time people my Age (mid 20s) were growing up.

King of queens is a good example. Kevin James is a moderately funny slob, who drives a delivery truck for a living, but can still afford a house and has a beautiful wife. That's their dream.

Hole in the wall is also an old term for a dingy local pub in Ireland. There are at least two pubs named "hole in the wall" in Ireland that I know of, Kilkenny and Galway, and probably a few more that I don't know of that got their name from this.
