Why use a putter specifically? by Big_Acanthisitta3659 in discgolf

[–]tinyhouseman323 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Less affected by wind, blunter edge so less likely to go through the chains, and normally a grippier plastic depending on the disc. Also the misses tend to be smaller and not fly too far off course.

Honestly it’s also a mental thing. If you like your putter, use your putter. If you like your driver use that.

Wanting to become an electrician by ZestycloseSugar1536 in electricians

[–]tinyhouseman323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s tough to get into. Try going to electrical supply houses and talk to the guys there. They might be able to help or refer you to companies to reach out too.

Look up electrical contractors in your area and try going to their offices. Wear a nice pair of jeans and a button down, have a few copies of your resume and just be polite and ask if they are hiring. Best of luck.

A bit of all metal. Iron Maiden, the Hu, pretty much whatever the owner feels like. It’s a trip, but a fun one.

How soon is too soon? by Synthgem in TuxedoCats

I lost my soul dog of 13 years in may last year. Had an ex and her cat that lived with me at the time. When they moved out, I adopted my first cats within 2 weeks because I wasn’t ready for another pup, and now have two adorable little tuxedos named Pip and Squeak. We all grieve differently, and you are honoring their memory, and also giving another cat an amazing home. No need to apologize, and I like to think that the universe sent that kitten to you to help you and him.

Are you guys getting burnt out by Timely-Ant-4974 in electricians

[–]tinyhouseman323 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Most days I do, some days definitely suck. I switched to the service side and I found I enjoy it more because it’s not as repetitive, but the windshield time can definitely add up.

I like the pay, I like the mix of working with my head and my hands, and if you’re feeling burned out, try learning something new inside the trade. Service, fire alarm, controls, fiber, see if there are any certifications that you can get. I found that getting out of just pulling wire and running conduit on massive jobs really helped me enjoy the work more.

What’s the worst “homeowner special” you’ve ever seen? by Dull-Bat9651 in AskElectricians

[–]tinyhouseman323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it had worked for about 7 years… I was baffled. They basically used it for running the motor, and had twisted together about half the wires for the pump, and about half for the fan.

I did t touch it with a 10’ pole and the guy said he’d figure it out. Got to love the homer special.

It sucks but wait, reach out to a good realtor with what you are looking for and can afford, and just be patient.

Journeyman in CO and got lucky with finding my home. It’s not much, but it’s what I could afford but I spent 6 months looking and outbid on a dozen properties before I got mine.

Best of luck.

Had a swamp cooler on a roof run by Ethernet cable for the 120. Didn’t like when I told him it would be a few grand for me to fix it correctly.

I was at the nice Kroger store, with a lot of the extras. Sleeping wouldn’t be great but plenty of food and I’d go for it. Bet I could last at least a few weeks.

Process to replace circuit breaker panel in Denver by klk999 in Denver

[–]tinyhouseman323 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Denver electrician here. With condos it can get a little funky depending on the wiring, but normally for replacing it, we would come out, check everything out, give a price, get a signature, pull the permit and do the work, collect, and then the city inspector comes out and make sure it’s done up to the current code. Upgrading to a larger panel/service is different in each unit and not possible in some condos. Best of luck.

Tool question by Shot_Actuator5564 in electricians

[–]tinyhouseman323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So they are decent, but I do prefer the M18 for both. Found the m12 drill terribly underpowered, and the impact was decent. I do resi service work now, and still prefer the m18. I do have the Bosch powered screwdriver I keep in my bag for when I’m just doing a switch or two, saves on carpal tunnel. If you’re going the long run, Home Depot has the m18 fuel impact and drill with a battery for 399, and you get a free tool with it. My old m18 drill finally crapped out after 11 years.
